Nicely done Simon - if they want that kind of board, they can start their own. Don't worry about that 'free America' stuff, its a catch all phrase sometimes used to cover bad behaviour here in North America.
Hi Simon and Angharrad; glad you had such a good time over there.
Hope all this trouble dos'nt stop you sorting out your jet lag.Go to bed and they'll have calmed down by the morning,I expect they were just playing up 'cos they missed you !
And you thought you only had two children...
As adults, we know there must be rules in place to establish order and discipline in any situation. This is not an unreasonable expectation. There are rules everywhere we go. There are stop signs and warning signs. There are spoken and unspoken rules. We have rules for our children. Teachers have rules for their students.
Perhaps if abusing and cursing is such a part of one's nature, and one just can't help being rude and crude, or mean and nasty, and it is really an important issue that cannot be denied, maybe they should find another place on the net where they will be absolutely free to do and say whatever. This forum is not the place. Simon says.
When you sign up on this forum you first learn the rules. If the rules need to be changed or inforced, you accept those changes. If you don't like the rules, or can't abide by the rules, that is your choice. But it is Simon's call to be able to maintain his site the way he wishes. He is not taking away anyone's rights.
Thank you Simon.
Karen
Awww, gee. You were all the way out west Edmonton, Alberta, and I didn't get a chance to meet? Darn. The price I have to pay for being anonymous, I guess. Did you see our nurse shark in the WEM aquarium?

Hello Simon;
I read where you have been on vacation with the family. Hope you and the family had a good time.Sorry you had to come back to some controversy on your forum.
Regarding the mentions of freedom of speech in the USA .While it is true that we have a history of freedom of speech, there are some limits. I have been the manager of several businesses and owned my own business and was at one time a Sheriffs deputy.
In all of these settings there were persons who tended to use profanity in their speech. I was one of these persons. While it is acceptable here in the USA when the conversation is between two people and private it is not acceptable in the work place or in dealing with the general public. Those who do so in public are looked upon as crude, and uneducated.
It is in fact a legitimate reason for an employer to terminate an employee. This is is also true in the event of a history of verbal attacts on another employee or a customer.
Personally, although I, when aggravated can and have cursed like the proverbial sailor, I know from experience that to do so makes me look smaller and less acceptable to the people around me.
I do have some concerns that the typical HYPER GOODY TWO SHOES type of viewer on this forum may be turned away from this valuable information if they encounter a lot of profanities.
Hyper goody two shoes fits my description of the average jw. They have been programed to turn away from overt signs of profanity and to accept the greater evils of the wbts such as child abuse etc. We deal with strange viewers here from that perspective. I would like them to linger long enough to recieve some of the seeds of doubt, rather than turn away in a "its all profane apostates" assumption.
Its your forum, I see no reason for you to not establish some guidelines and require us to follow them.

AS INSTRUCTED...IM A READIN' BOSS... IM A READIN' !!
Simon, YES SIR.
People who have already intentionally tried to stir things up by trying to make it appear people were editing their posts have been deleted: gravedancer, I already gave you several chances and frankly all I get in return from you is extra work so goodbye
I made an obvious joke by changing a font and words that said "Edited by Prisca" and "edited by Kent".
Sorry it wasn't obvious to you, Simon. But you tell everyone that we need to use common sense...I think anyone who saw that would have known it was a joke. Do you really think others here would believe that you made Kent a moderator?
