Also, why does a tree's affect differ from say an aluminum flagpole, a stone differ from a piece of cement, grass differ from a polyester carpet?

Actually, I'm not sure that there's any real difference, depending on your focus. Some Pagans have posted here that various natural settings are very influential to their spirituality... Full moons, new moons, seashores, sunsets, deserts, stars, ocean, forest, snow, etc... As I hold a shamanic view towards spirit, I think that our root beliefs are what create our reality... I don't necessarily think that it is so much an intrinsic energy property of grass versus carpet that makes us react to it differently; I think that it is our own experiences with such settings that give them more or less power over us... Speaking for myself, I can say that since I grew up in an area that never gets snow, but had the good fortune to go on camping & skiing trips in Colorado as a youth, I find snow to be magical, spiritual, serene, calming. I think that anyone's focus on a certain setting being conducive to spiritual connection, whether church, nature, or whatever, has to do intrinsically with the individual's own experience. I would theorize that someone who'd grown up in a house with wood floors, and then moved into a house with wall-to-wall carpet, while never having any major experience with the outdoors, might actually be more prone to find their spiritual connection in a carpeted place, or whichever of the 2 they remembered as being the happiest childhood experience...

That's food for thought. I have noticed in my short time in this field, that effects are subjective.

always during a thunderstorm I ask myself, of Donar is tired or has issues to clear with Thiu. And then I remember that Wodan is angry as Bonifatius has cut off his great oak tree.

So all guys from the Ase's family look irresponsible and their daughters seem to be unknown.

Even Freyja, also called Vanadis, disappears in the ligh of the darkness. and the walkyrries rode last time in Vietnam.

so the pagan gods are only back in any book and seem to be old history out of times before deluge.

Noah has survived them and the divine dawn.

Lets look forward to where our redeemer takes care fo our soules.

Interesting story Klaus, of course my redeemer is me. I think that while others may be able to judge us it is ultimately how we feel about ourselves that creates our Avalon or Underworld. Noone holds sway over me as I think good and bad are choices. Interesting you bring up Noah. The militant Bible literalist that I spoke of earlier totally believed the story of Noah to be true instead of a morality tale. I asked him how he felt about believing a Pagan Babylonian story; he shut down just like a JW and denied that that was true. Because we all know that there are no Pagan stories in the bible.

Seriously though, flowers and herbs have a powerful effect for me.

I usually get crazy during a full moon--feel restless.

Thank everyone for their comments. There was a tv program that touched on this a bit. A friend told me. Here is the write up about it. http://cbc.ca/natureofthings/episodes/episode14_intuition_2002.htm

You sound like natural for a pagan/nature religion.

I know I'm a little late on this thread! Sorry. Its interesting, I've enjoyed reading everyone's comments and I think that Spidermonkey was very insightful.

Clearly we are all deeply affected by the beautiful things in nature - Stars, Moon, Sun, Storms, Ocean, etc. I usually find myself drawn to objects that are full of energy - in this category (obviously) are certain animals / trees / plants. However, some stones and natural items hold energy and have their own vibrations which can have an effect on me. Old things tend to hold lots of energy and have an "old" aura - this includes manufactured items.

The article linked mentions the idea of a hologram. A book I am reading suggests that just as a part of a hologram reflects the whole hologram picture, so too we as individuals are reflections of the whole. We ARE God. I find that a beautiful and liberating idea and I suppose that is why I am pagan.
