Regarding the "Its Simons board" crowd, that does not mitigate any of the issues here and this mantra sounds sooooo Dubish.

    ThiChi,

I cannot agree with this and would ask that you to defend this oft repeated statement.

    1) Why does it not mitigate any of the issues?

    2) How does it sound 'dubbish'?

Instead of banning someone. Couldn't we try what the schools do when one of the students act against school rules. They suspend you for one day for the first offense, three days for the second and for the third you get a weeks suspension. You don't get thrown out of school until the fourth offense.

Also on the banning of someone. I feel if one person is banned for doing something and another person does the same thing and is only slapped on the wrist that that is just not right.

    HS:

Like the Jws, there is no consideration from the elite few when considering what rules to apply to whom. The issues? Who cares? You dont like it, leave. Or, better yet, we will remove you. Autocratic. Also, this mantra is a red herring. It does not address the issues at all. The Elders? They wear blinders and just do their job.

This board does take public donations, so some "consideration" to persons that have a "stake" at making what the board is today, should be given, right? Or, do we only take the good with the bad?

How do you feel about all the list members that have flamed Fred to the point that they too should be kicked out of your house, but have not? I feel that Fred was baited. However, he was wrong. Yet, two wrongs don't make a right, do they?

You mean it isn't fair???? OMG something isn't fair??? hhhmmm like men making more money then women for the same job? Perhaps I should just quit my job and whine about how unfair everyone is to me? OR I would continue with my job..do the best I can...and work in a civilized manner for changes....decisions decisions...

LIFE IS UNFAIR...why in the world do you expect it to be any different here?

Deleting a poster is more akin to telling the Jehovah's Witnesses that your house/garage/cottage/dog kennel/taxicab is a "do-not-call". It is not akin to df'ing because it does not impede the deleted person talking to others or voicing their opinions.

Also, jehovahs-witness.com is not an open forum. It is a privately owned www domain currently being used as a discussion forum. This distinction may seem trivial, but is really quite fundamental.

    Thi Chi:

Making a donation to a charity or organisation does not give you any "rights" or influence over how that charity or organisation is run. There are very good reasons for this. Imagine the Ku Klux Klan gaining control over the United Way by making a very large donation, for example.

thichi....IMO Fred was not baited. He has baited peopl and posted so much crap over a long period of time, where does one throw that into the equation? I don't care one way or another if Fred comes back, but if he does an open apology would be nice. Like several others, it seems to me that all Fred had to do was apologize for what he said and edit his own post which he CHOSE not to do. When one makes those kinds of descisions then they must also face the consequences. It doesn't make one a lesser person to step off it and say "hey sorry about that...now lets move on". Being right 100% of the time is impossible except for the delusional ones who think being right at the expense of others is worth it. No one loses intellectual prowess by saying "OK..sorry if I was an ass...". IMO it takes a bigger, less egoistic and smarter person to be able to do this.

    Sincerely,

ThiChi I wasn't changing the subject I was responding to lilacs comment about the unfairness of the moderation. Your posted just happened to come up inbetween

As for me being banned.....lol well I am sure if it was going to happen it would have by now. I am a LOT tamer now than I used to be And if it does....I will move on....after all shit happens you know....

But the bitterness I see is really unsettling...these people forget the good things they have found from this board and in their attempts to destroy it will make it impossible for others to. Shame I say! I have met some great people on here, made good friends and resolved a lot of issues....why not try and take that with you when you leave?

I did try the temporary suspension with MrMoe but she took exception to it.

I try not to let any of the few donations I receive influence how I treat people. I do not usually recognise (or know) the real name or emails of posters so don't know who they are necessarilly.

I would feel really bad if I had to deactivate someone who had contributed to the site but as far as I know this has never happened. I guess if someone is willing to put their hand in their pocket to help then going along with the guidelines would be ok.
