There is no doubt about it that the world is poised on the edge of an ecologically disastrous precipice. Though a damaged world ecology is nothing new to the world scene, evidence exists that this has been a regularly occurring situation over the earths evolution, this is the first time that man, ( a relative newcomer to the planet ) has been responsible. Pretending that it is not happening is plain foolish.
That the WTS and other groups have been using this scenario to peddle its Biblical wares for the past century, however, means very little. Why? Because the very Book on which they base their meticulous end-times calculations mentions absolutely nothing regarding what would become the worlds most threatening danger - its degraded ecology. Surely it should have focused on this aspect. You know the type of thing, "When you see that the earths fruits are dead and gone - know that your deliverance is getting near" In fact there would have been no need for any other sign.
Before anyone quotes the Revelation. where it describes God 'removing those ruining the earth', the Greek meaning where the word 'ruin' is concerned is describing 'moral not ecological pollution.
Is the earth heading for an ecological collapse comparable to ones that have visited it on numerous occasions in the past? Well, perhaps it is. It does seem quite likely, but bask in the joy that despite all we have done as humans to foul and burn this planet, IT will win. Nature always does, for it is more powerful than man.
Being 'stupid', by the way, is not the monopoly of XJW's it seems.
