Fisherman, thank you for that encouragement, but 1975 being discussed here shows that "the Book" majestic as it sounds in places Gen 1:1 for example, is not to be used as a tool to understand time, or creation. It has its valid passages as does shakespeare or goethe, a good source to browbeat your opponent with finalizing arguments, but the talking snake saga does surpasses the talking wolf story only by it's length. It is a test of one's credulity. in MHO. -

An often overlooked comment from the WT comes from a Kingdom Ministry:
Kingdom Ministry, 3/68, p. 4 "there are only about ninety months left before 6000 years of man's existence on earth is completed.... The majority of people living today will probably be alive when Armageddon breaks out, and there are no resurrection hopes for those who are destroyed then."
This would have been a very exciting meeting to be at, what with all the discussion about 1975 afterwards.

1975 was very effective in getting people very busy.
The question remains, will there be another "1975". I'm guessing once they are done with their expansions and the like, they will throw out another date. Millions will leave the religion, and they will have billions worth of property assets at their dispoale.
Well, that's what i would do if i were a cult leader.

Yes Splash at that meeting in 1968 they must have been euphoric...experiencing an artificial “high” in their religious delusion that Big J was using only them and would not fail them in their 1975 date doctrines. Fulfilment at last!
Of course it failed, it’s just a religious scam.
The tools of the Watchtower cult are hype and promises, nothing more... and a whopping load of nothing is all they will ever grant.
“Everlasting life in paradise,” if the offer sounds too good to be true; it is too good to be true.

In 1975 West German Branch Servant Conrad Franke gave a talk on 20 January 1968 in Hamburg. In the talk he spelled out to the audience that 1975 was the year of Armageddon.
After the talk the underground East German (GDR) overseer prepared a circular with the title: 'The shortness of time should determine your actions'. Here's are the closing remarks from the circular:
"...Thus it is impossible that Armageddon could take place after 1975! Who has given this keyword 1975? The slave! And don't we say of this slave that he gives us meat in due season?"

I do not recall any discussions, fantasizing about the coming events of 1975 among the "friends" , and after the letdown there was that erie silence about it, no mention of the obvious culprit the F&DS. A silence reminiscent of the taboo that surrounded the mention of A.H in post war Germany. Everyone was ashamed to have been duped, complicent about it, having in that way added to the momentum.
Wt was probably surprised how eager the jws were to make Armageddon happen, working as if they could "hasten the day".
