I love to read but I've recently gotten bored with it; mostly because I've read all of the books by my favorite authors: Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Mary Higgins Clark, John Saul and James Patterson.
Who are some of you favorite authors, and what are your favorite books (fiction)? I prefer psychological thrillers or scary books.

Well, reading books published by the WT scared the crap out of me, guess that doesn't count here, though...Stephen King--his older books are cool, descriptive, and horrorifically creative.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (I've read it several times). It took me awhile to get into Wuthering Heights, by her sister, Emily, but I really like that book, too. I like romantic classics and poetry (my favorite poet is Sara Teasdale). I have a passion for history and biographies and never tire of reading about Henry VIII and his wives. I have a little English blood in me, so I guess that's why British history has always been of major interest to me.

When I started reading, I went through the whole series of V.C. Andrews, the first being "Flowers In The Attic."
I outgrew those, now It is Stephen King, just finished for the second time "Bag Of Bones."
I have read some of Dean Koontz, and Danielle Steel.
A book really has to keep my interest, or I get bored. I read just before bed, which is real good, but reading to me is like a sleeping pill, I may get through a page or two, then I find I am fast asleep, still with the book in my hand. There are some real good books out there.
There are some really good biological terrorist books by Robin Cook. Vector is one I can remember. Any with Jack Stapleton as the main character are pretty good thrillers. Chromosome 6 and Contagion are more titles.
If you like scary books, try "The List of Seven" by Mark Frost. He was the co-creator of "Twin Peaks". It was a good read, and the imagery was chilling.

When I'm in that mood, i.e. SCARY fiction, I prefer to read the Old Testament.
For pure horror, it doesn't get any better than that, folks. Rape, incest, disembowling, genocide, dismembering, insanity, fratracide, matricide, war, gore and MORE!
And the best thing about it is, it's ALL Bible-Based(tm)!

"Lonesome Dove " was an excellent one.
Scary books are good too.
True crime stories I like reading also.

Well, as an avid "Scarey psych " reader..I'd have to recommend... Kathy Reich's books...I love Patricia Cornwell too...* cant remember if you mentioned her(??)....Jeffery Deaver..and Iris Johansen.. also * thumbs up**** on ANY Robin Cook novel... as biochem/analytical science student.. I find these writers to be on the money.....

I love Dean Koontz books best one to date False Memory - now desperately waiting for his new book to come out in paperback!
I have read a lot of Patricia Cornwell - Scarpetta stories , and Anne Rice.
I've loved some Stephen King books but others I've ended up giving up on!
