Well they are to be no part of the world. National elections are part of the world. Congregation voting is seperate from the world.

But then again, congregation voting is just a rubber stamp.

There USED to be voting in the congregation.............back in the early 1900s and early 1920's, elders were voted in by the congregation, which is the way it SHOULD be done. Now of course, you're selected by 5 or 6 other elders and the congregation has absolutely no say..........how frigging typical. This is usually why the bigger ass-kisser you are, the better chance you got of becoming an elder.

As for why other trivial "voting" matters are allowed in the congregation but you can't vote for a President or Prime Minister is also another nit-picking stupid rule of theirs: It's not the actual action of voting that they're against, but they don't think that Christians should vote for a worldly leader, because of course, God's Kingdom is the only true and just government. While that's all fine and dandy, it's not here yet (oh sorry, I forgot: it's been here "invisibly" since 1914), and we have to have something in the meantime...............

congregation voting is just a rubber stamp.

LB, has the right idea there.

Congregations must vote on a resolution for anything financial that is not among the normal monthly bills such as utilities or loan payments. The CO's expenses falls under this. That is supposed to prevent the BOE from willynilly spending the congregation's money without the congregation knowing anything about it. Remodels and new halls generate some voting opportunities: the color scheme of the hall or to get an idea what people are willing to give (no names on ballot).

Otherwise it is just rubberstamping. Outside the congregation, voting is private for the most part so that people are not afraid to be different from the crowd.

I noticed when they took a vote in the congregation they never announced the results.I assumed it was because they had already decided what they were going to do and voting was just a formality. Therefore I never raised my hand to vote.

dsgal, the attendants in the back notice how many vote for no.

Don't they announce "how many for?" then "how many against?"

All they have to do is see who is in the majority. I can think of only once or twice someone voted no and everyone wondered who had the bad attitude. I have seen some heated discussions over KH builds though.

Being removed from Gods spirit as you no doubt are, you obviously also are a person that has little in the way of spiritual understanding as is evidenced by you lack of understanding on this simple matter.

In your simple mind you reason that this is some type of hypocrisy when in fact it is just part of theocratic order.

    I shall explain further heathen.

There are many examples like this and if you had the correct viewpoint you would understand why it is OK for the Watchtower to condemn the UN as being a manifestation of the devil and the churches that support it by being NGO members while at the same time the Watchtower is also an NGO member of the UN.

Fool that you are, do you not see this is theocracy not hypocrisy? Is it not plain to see?

Must I point to yet other examples unworthy one?

When the Watchtower says that you must die rather then receive an organ transplant, a vaccine, or a particular blood fraction and then changes its mind without so much as an apology, your heart should rejoice!

    But does it? Likely not.

In fact you feel anger rather then pride after the death of your child because of Gods ever-changing rules as distributed by the Faithful and Discreet Slave.

I could go on and on with examples but it is wasted on one such as you, someone who lives their life using reason and logic rather then faith in Gods Faithful Slave.

But there is Good News, the Good News of Jehovahs Kingdom!

And in a nutshell hear it is:

Soon, very soon, God will wipe all tears from everyone eyes when he kills you, your children, and most of the people alive today.

I know a logical thinking person like you cant understand this, but just trust in God. After all, its for your own good.

    Re: Blondie

"Remodels and New Halls generate some voting opportunities."

In these cases the Elder Body acting under the requests of the Regional Building Committee and Circuit Overseer present what they think to the congregation. Its not viewed as a vote but rather as an opportunity to go along with Jehovah's Holy Spirit. In other words if you vote in agreement with the Elder Body then yeah your working along with Holy Spirit, if you don't then you have a bad attitude-shame on you!

We never had anything like that at MY Hall! It smacks to me of Democracy, which as we all know is a great and terrible EVIL!

No, when the GB want something to happen, they pass a "resolution", and if you don't agree, it doesn't matter ONE BIT because they just go ahead anyway! In fact you get some rather pointed looks if you don't clap for a "resolution"!

What a bunch of idiots. Nice post Freeman!
