I said "simple," not "single." But I am single. I am a divorced grandmother, free at last -- free from domestic tyrrany and borg control freakiness -- and loving it!
Did we have the right?

Kenpo,
I think we never had the right. I'm basing this entirely on personal experience. I spent years telling other people at the doors what I thought they should believe. That was the height of arrogance! (Despite the fact that I believed that salvation would be attained for them if they believed as I did.)
Right now, I don't know what I believe. But I'll be damned if I'll let anyone tell me what I ought to believe. A faith experience is highly personal and each person must find his or her own path (or decide there IS no path, it's all one big parking lot! lol).
As Lisa (?) said, we weren't offering the gospel: Christ came, Christ died for us, Christ is risen, we were offering magazines which were actually inane and insulting. If the magazines didn't insult your religion or cultural traditions, they insulted your intelligence.
No wonder so many were "not interested." They wanted to choose their OWN flavor. Imagine that!
Scully,
Methodist - Neopolitan. (A little more liberal brand of Protestantism (vanilla), yet orthodox (chocolate) with a few fruits thrown in to make it interesting (strawberry).

Think about it. How many people did we actually convert going door to door, especially compared with how many did we iritate? Those should be the ones that we should feel bad for. The others, if they became witnesses, maybe it is filling a void in their life. At least they are adults, and can make decisions for themselves. The ones I really worry about are those who were brought up as witnesses from childhood. They never had a chance.

Mum,
: Thanks for taking Farkel's derisive question about what's your favorite flavor, pizza topping or whatever and turning it into a "non-fluff" post! Wish I had your skill.
You're just upset because I like different pizza toppings than you!
