When i was a jw...i just got baptized on my sixteenth birthday...i was thrilled and excited ...i went to Iowa to visit a sister who i had a close relationship with. When i got there...i was given entry into a brother's house where they were having a huge BBQ where steaks were on the grill...And the brother made four steaks...and set one steak aside for himself and declared it was his. I asked why ...he said "cause i like my steak medium rare. I looked at the steak and poked a hole in it..and there was blood still there...he said "yeah that's the way i like it".... i found a little voice in my heart saying "What happened to all the brothers and sisters that died because the society strictly said that you cannot have blood transfusions? And even having a needle going into your arm giving you blood is like "eating blood" ..." I remember thinking this...i never said anyting...another interesting point Crisis of Conscious had brought out was that when speakin gin regards BLOOD and to ABSTAIN from it...it STRICTLY was speaking about blood of ANIMALS!...to save a life by using another person's blood ...is acceptable i believe by Jah...After all...your life is in YOUR BLOOD (So they say). And if that is the case "there is no greater love than this..that one should surrender his LIFE in behalf of his brother" ...Any comments anyone? ~FS

    FiveShadows,

There may have been some blood in the juice but there was also a lot of water. The blood that you did not see was still in the meat itself and uncooked from what you are saying here. If you eat meat, you are eating blood no matter how it is cooked. I tried to show everyone that this so called rule in Acts is not a truth but an error being made by James that was not caught by Paul at first. He took it as a concession by James that was not really binding upon the faith but optional a matter of conscience if you will mostly to keep from upsetting Jewish Christians. It would be many years later that he returned to Jerusalem to correct it and counsel the Jews against keeping the Law. After all Paul taught against this very letter when he said:

1 Corinthians 10:25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

i wasnt aware of this...i do apologize if i have stumbled anyone in anyway...i am not saying it's wrong to eat meat...or it was wrong for the brother to eat his steak that way...the problem i had was that this brother...if his mother or daughter or son in the future was in the hospital...he would refuse the hell out of getting a transfusion...even at the expense of their and/or his life...yet he'll be perfectly happy to eat a steak..medium rare. Is it just me? ~FS

Well, at first, FiveShadows, I was gonna tell ya "Medium rare. Are you cookin'?, but now I've read your post and really, REALLY like your viewpoint:

to save a life by using another person's blood ...is acceptable i believe by Jah...After all...your life is in YOUR BLOOD (So they say). And if that is the case "there is no greater love than this..that one should surrender his LIFE in behalf of his brother"

Makes me want to go out and donate blood right this minute! Donating blood to save a fellow human's life CANNOT be evil, can it?

    Thanks.

We were always taught that this was simply red water, interstitial fluid was the name given to it, I recall.

This was the answer we gave on the doors anyway, plus a wisecrack that of course it isn't blood, everyone knows that blood clots in air.

    Hi Five,

I had the same thought many times. I agree with you completely. This fluid that E-man was taught, I wonder what the witnesses said when someone asked, 'well, what males it red?' dj

Why do people thik that the apostles who were expounded the scriptures by Christ Himself, not speak and teach in the manner He taught them - using the same way of speaking?

It seemed good to the Holy Spirit to say that - and how did the Holy Spirit speak through men down the ages?
