What part of Germany were you in (or do you care to disclose) When I lived in Stuttgart we went there when I took the step kids, the wife only went once in all that time, me probably 12 or more.
Thank Chester, what a nice compliement.
Yeru, we were in a small town about 25 miles outside of Cologne, near the Rhine River. The inhabitants of this town insist that it is a suburb of Cologne, while actually it is in the country. There is a patch of wild cabbages growing right across the street from the post office. If that's not the country I don't know what is.
Nice one Dutchie!
I think you did the best thing...re the aged parents. Interesting info re the decline in German. They also have had 'silentlambs' type coverage over there.

Josh, I just noticed the very sweet compliment.
You're a real peach! Thank you so much.
Dieses war sehr interessant zu lesen. Never being a dub I find it interesting how things are different, yet still the same on the other side of the world. I'm glad you made the older folks happy...life's too short...... Happy you had a nice trip.
Welcome back (((((dutchie)))))) Your gentle presence was missed!!
Thanks for sharing your observations about the JWs in Germany. I think you did a kind thing in doing what you could not to cause further hurt to your in-laws. It's great that your kids went along with the charade too. Interesting remarks that bro made about "apostates" over there, and the lack of enthusiasm amongst those still "in". Looks like there will be more decreases over the next few years!
HI DUTCHIE, I thought your handling of your family was quite interesting. I'm surprised that no one here thought that you were hypocritical. I am glad you thought out what YOU felt was appropriate in dealing with these older ones. I have seen a lot of criticism by certain ones if you don't say upfront what you now believe. Many of us here have family that are still Witnesses, and WE must do what WE feel is necessary.I am glad nobody disparaged you! ..........and welcome back!
Thank you Prisca. You are very kind!
You're so right Minimus. We must all do what is best for us even IF we are disparagd for it. We have to live our own lives, march to the drummer that we hear.
Dutchie,
Vielen Dank fuer Ihre sehr Interessante Geshichte!
Its like I always said, Life is too short to learn German.
