Sometimes it takes several trips to the doctor to get the right meds and the right dosage. Just hang in there until you find the right ones. They work wonders. Lean upon your friends. That's what we are here for. Build up a network of support. Here. Your local friends. Your partner. Do you have a counselor? Even with meds you sometimes have to work with a counselor to get to the root of the problem. Just take it a day at a time until your doctor finds the right meds.

Take comfort that there are many here who care and who have been through similar pain! Know that you have been an inspiration to me. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. Hang on!

    Joelbear,

You are not alone. If it means anything to you I find you to be one of the most level-headed and caring individuals on this discussion board.

Sometimes the realization that the most kind-hearted people are the ones afflicted most savagely by heartache, anguish, and pain is difficult to bear.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you in your time of need, and should you need someone to just talk to, there are a multitude of people here who value your presence and warmth, and would be a helping hand.

    Hi all,

Been back to the doctor. Currently medicating with Ativan and Anafranil for my panic and OCD respectively.

I overloaded myself with new pressure and not enough support and I collapsed. I'm healing from the collapse. My mind has to come to trust me again that I won't pressure it too much. Until it does, it will beat me into submission.

I have regained some of my apetite which is a good feeling. Its been hard to eat anything the last few days.

The outpouring of warmth here is simply incredible.

I have to stop being by myself. I have to have people around. I know that's part of the solution. We are thinking of getting a roommate to be here with me when Mitch is gone. I need human prescence. Its a need I have ignored for a long time.

BIG HUGS and much heartfelt thanks.

    Joel

Just read through your initial post with alarm, and then through the responses with gratitude for the wonderful people on this board, and now through your update with relief!

I experienced the first panic attack of my life this past summer. It was horrifying. I don't wish it on anybody.

I am glad that you reached out to the members of this forum when you felt badly. I am continuously amazed at the compassion displayed here. I wish you well in your struggles. You are a great guy and we care about you alot!

I am very glad to hear you made it back to the doc , Joel. Ativan is pretty good too,,,,, I have tried them all myself and I think meds are just one important part of dealing with a chronic problem like OCD , PTSD and other anxiety disorders that will just not go away.

Getting a roommate might be a good thing, just becareful to not stress yourself out more with someone who may get on your nerves......LOL

Do you have any pets, Joel? I have 3 kids, a hubby and still need my pets......I don't know why but I have to have animals around me . I have always been that way ,even as a child and find great comfort in petting them, taking care of them, and watching them play. I have 2 dogs, one is a pug and acts like my shadow or baby, and we just got 2 new kittens which are soooooooo much fun to watch.....If you live in an apt a cat is perfect, litter box is not a big deal if you keep it cleaned out often. If I lived alone,,,,, I would absolutely HAVE to have an animal..... they seem to be there when you need them the most. It is like they sense you need them , as they need you.

Sorry I have rambled , but I really hope you get to feeling better......... hugsssssssss Dede
