Well, I have been living in Las Vegas for a week and a half now. The drive from Houston to Vegas was hard. It took me two days to get here, but thankfully my Dad came with me and he was able to help me drive. My apartment is great. It is right in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. I have spend most of the week going to the local DMV to get my Nevada driver's license, get my car registered in the state, and to get my Nevada license plates. (Guess what my personalized license plate will say: EXJW! Cool, huh?) I also changed my insurance to the state of Nevada. Also I have a job interview for a courier job so hopefully I will get that. Also I went to the local newspaper to see if I could get a job delivering newspapers to stores, newsstands, and casinos.

I have to say the atmosphere is great! I have been hanging out the Palms Hotel and Casino. That have a great poker room. Last Sunday they had the annual Pimp and Ho Ball. You would believe how some of these woman where dressed! I saw one woman dressed in a white bikini with a G-string, white Go Go boots and I long white feathered boa. Another woman was dressed in black lingere with stiletto heels and a black garder belt. This was in plain view of everyone!

Another time I saw a homeless person with a sign that said: WHY LIE! I NEED A BEER. Ahh! I'm going to love Vegas!

Having been there once, I am so jealous. Vegas seems like a pretty cool place to live.

morrislamb, here is my experience re: shows:

    Shows to see:

    • Anything by Cirque du Soleil (e.g. "O", Mystere)

    Shows to maybe see:

    • Blue Man Group

    Shows to NOT see:

    • Tommy Tune
    • Sigfreid & Roy

Just my two cents, I'm sure others will have different opinions!

BTW, book your tickets NOW! If you can't get ticketst to Cirque, use the "LAST MINUTE" line. You will have to wait two-three hours, but will get good tickets (at full price) and "O" is WORTH THE WAIT and COST!!!!!

Quotes, Thanks so much for the heads up!

I wouldn't go see Tommy Tune or Sigfried & Roy if my life depended on it!!!

Three queens and couple of tigers? All I have to do is take some of my friends to the zoo-- and I'll have a better time too!

I do want to see cirque, but what is the Blue Man Group?

Gil: congrats! I just got back from there on Tuesday. It was my fifth trip, but this time the heat really got to me. We stayed indoors as much as possible. It was painful to watch the kids going back to school dressed in new jeans in 110 degree blazing sun.

So, you are right on the corner of Paradise and Harmon? Near UNLV? We stayed at the Aladdin, which was not only super nice, it was super cheap. Just down the road from you, as I recall.

Once the weather cools down, do venture out to the desert. I highly recommend Red Rock Canyon as a hiking area. If you manage to go around sunset, the colors will blow you away. I have a soft spot in my heart for that particular place.

I've downloaded a few noisey casino games, just so I won't miss those slot noises!

    Have fun and good luck!

I *loved* Red Rock Canyon, wasa! Went there with the family about 3 years ago. Also in 110+ degree heat! Took lots of pics as it was my first trip to the Southwest. (Does Nevada count as the Southwest?)

    Thanks for the memories!
