"x-mas songs. We hear them;next thing we know the tune is running around in our head. In a short time we are humming them just as Satan wants."

As everyone knows, this can eventually lead to celebrating Mothers Day, and other mortal sins.

"Some are slowly losing the sense of urgency."

Now, let's think about this. If you have time to lose your sense of urgency slowly, then obviously the situation was never urgent, now was it?

"Jesus is countless billions of years old ... and one day we will be as old as Jesus is now, and he'll only be twice our age."

Wow, a philosopher and a mathematician. He must have read the Awake for at least three years to reach those intellectual heights.

James, this Governing Body rep comments reminds me of an inspiration book I read once, only this guy's list title should be, "Chicken Soup for the Idiot."

That has got to be the quote of the day.

    11. If we had the cure for cancer we would tell everyone. We DO have >the cure for cancer, AIDS, and even death. People desperately need >to hear. A bullet in the head will cure aids, cancer and all other bodily disease, but it kills the person too. Do we want to give up our lives for this "miracle cure." And it isn't even for certain. Being a witness doesn't even cure disease.

    1. Listen to Jehovah. Many think they know the answers, but they don't even know the questions.

    Especially not you!

    >2. Study regularly, study deeply. We can be desensitized by what >we see and hear, thinking it isn't bad, x-mas songs. We hear them; >next thing we know the tune is running around in our head. In a >short time we are humming them just as Satan wants.

But remember, only study Watchtower Literature!

    >3. Do we spend pioneer time in front of the TV or computer, and >token time in service? Psalms 19:37, "Make my eyes pass on from >seeing what is worthless."

This coming from someone who never goes out in Service? That's RICH!

    >4. Jesus is countless billions of years old ... and one day we >will be as old as Jesus is now, and he'll only be twice our age.

Yeah, imagine spending countless billions of years singing Kingdom Songs (TM). If that were going to happen to ME, I'd shoot myself first!

    >5. The Bible is inspired of the Sovereign of the Universe. It's a >masterpiece, give it careful attention.

Not even going to TOUCH this one! 'Nuff said!

    >6. The reasons some give for not being at the meetings is the very >reason why they need to be there.

    Two words: Oral Sex.

    >7. Too busy because of the high cost of living, or living high? >You can't put enough money in the bank to get through Armageddon.

But you can give it to us instead!

    >8. A couple of young brothers are going to a movie. When asked if >it has bad language, they reply, "yes, but we hear it all the time >in school." Do we want to pay to hear more? It should hurt our ears.

They're not paying for the bad language! They're paying for the Boobies! *doh*

    >9. Every meeting is a holy, sacred occasion. Never be absent by >choice.

About as Sacred And Holy(R) as you can get when playing the same old songs from a tape recorder and having guys run up & down the aisles carrying microphones to people "answering" questions by reformatting Watchtower paragraphs slightly. Oh, yah got that right!

    >10. Some are slowly losing the sense of urgency. We are in the heart >and heat of a universal emergency. All in heaven have their >attention focused on earth and what we are doing.

It's all so INVISIBLE! And Deep(TM)! I wish I could have a Sense Of Urgency (TM) too!

    >11. If we had the cure for cancer we would tell everyone. We DO have >the cure for cancer, AIDS, and even death. People desperately need >to hear.

Tell that to the people who will die in a week from AIDS symptoms, big guy! "Oh, you'll be cured real soon now!" Sure!

    >12. Our ministry is an extension of God's love. When you talk with >someone they are face to face with a representative of Jehovah God.

Ahh, yes, to be so "child like" and innocent again. To live a fairy tale existence, and not face life in the reality that it is meant to be lived. To shut out the real world and live in a dream world, concocted by a group of "great writers", who twisted and turned the scriptures upside down, to make one of the most beautiful pictures we could ever hear of. And we were so special. We belonged. We were accepted. Just think a Paradise earth. Yes, I remember those days.

Then we realized that it was just a fancy "story" with a dark side. The blind leading the blind. But, my eyes were opened. The illusion faded long ago, and I'm all grown up now.

And it feels a whole lot better.
