hey gumby...how iz finding out about the afterlife a reason to LIVE?

I guess if I knew there was something better in the future, then I could deal with this life easier and have something to look forward to. I am at the point where life and why we are here makes no sence. I believe in a creator for the most part but have no idea whats on his mind.

I wished what I had believed in all my life was going to be true...a paradise with no problems. Perhaps it will be.....but not the dub way.

My reasons for living: my two daughters; my pets; my mom; learning, changing; making a difference that I hope lasts with the ripple effect. Also - being there for others who felt as I did growing up. I also look forward to being a grandmother.

    there's lots of reasons really.

Neat question...My kids are my passion, and I live to pass on all the good things I've leaned since leaving the "borg". I also have 5 grandchildren who need loving, spoiling, teaching and I hope they'll remember their Krazylady Granny as someone always willing to give them her "wisdom" laughter and lots of fun. They give ME warm fuzzies every day..I strive to give them back. I also try to make the world a better place for every one else's kids

ring - hehe. soundz like a noble cause 2 me. lol.

dantheman - "i have a dream..." that wuz funny. i wish u success in your vision.

jst2laws - "craving to learn something new"..."I believe relationships are more important than the pursuit of knowledge..." "But the thrill of seeking understanding, wisdom, discernment and knowledge sure adds to the quality of life."
These statements of yours resonated with me on some level. Thanks for the reminders & for your enthusiasm. It has given me a much needed lift.

gumby - yep, i can relate. thatz somewhat the kinda thinking that inspired this thread actually. usually ok, but once in a blue moon i getz a little lost as to the point of it all.

mimilly - i'm glad your list is long! :)

so far the reasons we've got are:
hope, sex, relationships, kidz, grandkidz, pursuit of knowledge, petz, parentz, being there for otherz, changing, making a difference.

    not bad.

    any more?

    welcome Krazylady.

wow, as i suspekted, kidz sure do rank pretty high on peoplez "reasons to live" lists.

i don't have kidz, but i like what you said about
"making the world a better place for other peoples kids".
    that works for me.

Hmmm...maybe we could get together. You could pretend that you are married, and I could pretend that I was married, we could have a secretive, passionate affair...

"I came here to chew bubble gum and to kick ass - and I'm allll out of bubble gum." -Rowdy Roddy Piper in They Live

Of course, I only mean that in a "excellence" sort of way, but more importantly it just shows what fun random word association can conjur up in the mind.

But to answer your question - since when does anyone need a reason to live anyway? It seems like plenty of people live without a reason, nobody thinks all those people should drop dead do they? But really, I say don't look a gift horse in the mouth. We can come up with plenty of reasons to live, just as the mind is full of thoughts. (sometimes too much) But I say the ultimate reason to live is life itself, and that means every possible reason there is in life. Redundant and circular, yes, but it works for me!

To break the cycle of incest in my family. My dad did it to me because his father did it to him, and his father before him and on and on. I want to break out and prove to my family and myself it can be done. A family can exist without raping the children.
