I appreciate the thought Xena and LB, but I decided when I first started the counter suit that any money gained would go to charity. I really don't need the money, not being silly or bragging but the money I received from Jons' life insurance has put me in a position that I don't have to worry about money anymore. Due to insurance, our house was paid off when Jon passed as well as one of the cars, so after all the final expenses there was a sizeable chunk of change left, which has been invested and allows me to have financial freedom.
I'm did think about setting up a memorial scholarship in Jons' name at a local college, but 12,000.00 anymore would only pay for about 1 year, so I'm not sure. Keep the suggestions coming, it's seriously appreciated.
Just a thought on scholarships, I think (I'm not sure) school scholarships can be claimed back in your tax, so you can continue to do it year after year, you just claim it back each year. Explore this option by talking to a tax accountant or get some information from your local tax office. The company I work for gives nothing away for nothing....but we offer a scholarship in just about every school we have contracts with. Its part of the enticement deal to get the school to sign up the company to provide certain services. If you can recover the costs, you can do it again each year. Just a thought, and all the best.
Maybe you could donate a little to all the charities Jon's father would hate. Do it in his name and address. He will get so much mail from these people asking for more...........Would be funny to be a fly on the wall when he gets the letters thanking him for his donation. HeHeHe!
