Well said, and well written SYN. I especially could relate to this: "If I'd known that the Governing Body VOTED on doctrine, I would surely have left sooner. Is there a God of ballots? If this is so, then truly Jehovah is with the Governing Body. "
After reading Ray Franz' COC which went into great detail about this practice - it was the beginning of the end for me. I had experienced this to a smaller degree as an elder at our back room meetings. To learn that headquarters operated the same way was a real deal killer for me.
Your discussion of JW's being a religion of omission was spot on too.
