Not so fast you guys. Here's the other side of the argument:

I would love for them to find life. But until such a time as an official announcement is made by an international body of astrobiologists - I'm withholding belief.

The only religion/s that will be impacted by the discovery of extraterrestrial life are going to be the Fundamentalist Christians and Orthodox Jews. There is nothing in the Bible on the subject and that will leave an open hole in their psyche..

Realizing that there might be extraterrestrial life goes against the major premise of their religion which puts man at the center of the Universe with Jesus dying for humanity due to the sins of a literal Adam and Eve. Are we to believe that Jesus died for the sins of E.T.? Has any extraterrestrial race gone through the ordeals of sin and death like their human counterpart?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

I think the chances of finding something like eukaryotic multi-cellular life is very remote. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before prokaryotic life is discovered.

Wasn't Wickramasinghe quoted in the Creation book?

Calling it "probable" seems a bit optimistic. It would be better categorized as "possible"... But interesting and exciting nontheless!

The human are not in the exact center of the universe, that everybody (ie creationnists) know was built for the enjoyement of us?

    Let's see,

An icy, very dark surface with an endless supply of dark material located deep inside, being boiled off, spewing out material at a fairly prolific rate through several cracks.

    It's my ex-wife. Yes, definitely. It's her.

It'd be so awesome if they confirmed life elsewhere!

I agree, Doc10. And how I do wish I could be around for such news!

Let's see creationists and theologians weasel and squirm their way around that!

Unreasonable minds might. Just like with the un-Solar System and Flat Earth mentality there will be those who close their eyes to any scientific progress.
