It's comforting to know that when I go to hell, I won't be alone!

    >> the only concept which Jesus ever taught,<<

Yo Frank...I appreciate many of the viewpoints you have and the eloquent way you express yourself, matter of fact, we agree on some things as I have noted.

But the above I believe is a mistatement. Jesus teachings were in fact a double-edged sword weren't they?

For instance, the two roads. Wheat and the weeds. Comparing his return to Noah and Lot's day. Any much much more...I was wondering why you sidestep Christ's bitter teachings? They were part of his message too. How do you reconcile Christ's teachings of good and bad?

Regarding God's justice, I don't believe it is infinite nor does it have to be, I do believe it is perfect and it has to be.

I believe God's mercy would be infinite, but not global, He administers it where He desires to.

Frank, give me your view/definition on justice and what it means in relation to God...would you?

The sword is double edged - as t he same Word is life for some and death for others, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be spoken. If you only live by the sword, then you will die by the sword, but if you live according to Spirit.....

Isn't it our destiny to become spiritual, grow spiritually, into spirits?

For some it should be a fantastagorical dreamvoyage to spend all their time at serving others, unburdened by their previous state - I suppose for others it will simply be an eternity in hell, envying those in the flesh.

I wonder how the dubs will be with that. Do you think they'll be freaked out by it? to be like angels, neither male nor female etc?

A lot of thoughts now go through my brain, realizing that the Watchtower did not hold the answers. As far as I can tell, if one were to believe in the bible, which I do, there is a heavenly promise for believers of Christ.

So what does that mean for hell? For me, it is hard to believe that God, a God of love, would torture non-believers forever in a burning hell. I would imagine a state of non-existance would be more accurate. To me, if there was a burning hell, who would run it? We all are taught by others that Satan runs hell. Well, what happens when Satan does not exist? Who would run it then? And if there was a hell, wouldn't that mean that God and Satan are working together? What does God say? Ok Satan, here are the bad ones? I would like to think that hell is more of a state of just non-existance.

    The jw stance

    1. If I can't get what I want then I don't want to live. Only death can really defeat suffering, so don't be asking for things, just die already.

    2. The worst thing that can happen to me is death: the bonus being that I can do what I want to other people within a certain level of immunity - very attractive to a**oles.

    3. People who would prefer that suffering people keep on living are evil - death is better. Underlying belief - we're too busy and selfish to help others and actually we don't have any faith in the future (see our continuous end of the world ideas, and the futility of lending a hand).

    4. Our God is actually a very scary and nasty tyrant, but he's very loving just like us, so the best thing to do is just kill people that aren't good - best for them and us. Underlying belief - we believe murder and burying the dead is the go.

    Minimus - you're in.

Pom, I mean that particular concept of God as loving father was the only concept of God that Jesus ever taught. He taught all sorts of other stuff but that particular facet is the one I was referring to at the moment.

Paduan Learner, you're right on the mark. It's the unavoidable outcome of limitless evolution; from beast to thinking animal; from thinking animal to thinking animal who can know God; from knowing about God to knowing God as a fact in one's personal experience; from knowing God to the desire to be like him; from the desire to be like Him to ceasing to resist being led by the Infinite Spirit of God into that estate wherein we behave more and more like Him.

It's simple really. First cleansing ourselves of every trace and mark of our animal origin (the mark of the beast), through developing the first signs of an evolving spiritual nature, and continuing this spiritual evolution until that far off day wherein we are proclaimed full-fledged spirits. Evolution. From single-celled animals to perfected spirits. Now, that's really a trick, isn't it? Beats the hell out of the fiat creation of perfect beings. Growing your own from the simplest, most primitive form of life, now that's Godlike.

And what will happen when the perfect meets the perfected? God only knows, if he knows. It would be godlike of him to keep himself from knowing, wouldn't it?

Come on my friends, let's do it!!!

Nothing I like doing more than stepping outside myself for an alternate view - too "see life".

Maybe as a spirit I'll be able to look around space as well (and beyond) - cool.

Perhaps satan fell to earth because that was his desire - the temporal things.

I wonder if humans are a bigger deal to God than a dog, cat, horse, spider etc. He hasn't revealed himself to us anymore than to them.
