Do you remember your "last door"?

It suddenly occured to me today that I had never thought about the last door that I knocked on out in field service. Honestly, I don't remember it. During the time that I started to "drift away", I had changed jobs and was working weird hours, so f.s. became very irregular. Do any of you people remember your "last door"?

Nope, but it's virtually certain that nobody answered or they said "not interested", like 99% of people!

It's funny TR, I don't remember my last door either.
I stopped field service about 2 years ago, not as a
deliberate measure, but it just didn't feel right anymore.
You just outgrow certain things, and when I decided to leave,
field service was the first thing to go (contrary to what
elders say, prayer isn't the first thing to
disappear once a person becomes innactive).
With that, I humbly apologize to all of the people I once
harrassed by knocking continuously at their doors, calling them
up incessantly, and showing up unanounced on weekends....
Of course I referring to all my former boyfriends!
LOL, j/k, naughty boy!!! (slaps behind)

TR - interesting topic. Glad you brought it up.

I actually do remember one of the last doors, on the last morning I ever went in field service. A friend, fellow elder (former PO) and I encountered a lady who most would consider a "fundie".

She came to the door with a bible that was well used, highlighted everywhere. Her biggest problem with us was over the Trinity, faith vs works etc.

My friend and I were getting nowhere, especially using the NWT. I took over towards the end, and tried a different tactic - first of all commending her on her knowledge and regular study of the bible. Also acknowledged that neither of us would likely be able to change each others minds while at the door that morning. Tried to at least leave things on a friendly note - LOL

My wife and I had pretty much decided that we were on our way out several weeks prior to this. This lady, whether or not you agreed with her beliefs, was in my opinion a much better student than I was of the bible, and probably 99% of the JW's I knew. Instead of knowing a handful of scriptures that are used over and over again at the meetings, it was obvious that she had read the entire bible many times over. Who was I to tell her she was wrong?

    All best,

    Mak

Hmmmmmmmm my last door?? That was almost 12yrs ago and my memory isn't what it should be (too much drinking in that time-LOL). I must admit, my last months going out, I made sure to go with someone around my age that hated doing it too. My father watched me like a hawk and so I would place my finger over the doorbell, but would never push it. I would stand there quietly and place a mag on the ground and keep going. If there was no doorbell, I would act as if I knocked on the door, coming about half and inch from the door.

I had some come to the door anyways cause they saw us standing there. The responce was the same-"I didn't even hear you knock."---LOL

I would think to myself--Damn they saw us!!! LOL

    lol...Nope T.R. I don't remember, but for that matter, I don't remember my first!

I just remember always feeling like I was intruding by stoping by unannounced! I hated it and always thought it was rude! Glad I don't have to do it anymore!

If I knew then what I know now, the last door could be very interesting. Here you are, talking to someone at the door, and as usual they are "busy" and about to close it on you. Suddenly you say to the householder, "I don't believe this anymore!" House holder looks at you puzzled, and says, "come in". Then you have a deep conversation about why you don't believe what you've been preaching all these years. The householder is astounded, and eats it all up. Meanwhile you've left dubs out in the car, waiting for you, and they haven't a clue that you've just spilled your guts.

I wonder if this scenario has ever happened to a 'hovah?

Since I haven't knocked on a door in over a year, that's a tough one.I'll bet you no one remembers that event.
