If he likes it he will join. Most actors aren't known for their IQ except people like Geena Davis (who belongs to MENSA).
Look at John Travolta and Tom Cruise. They believe in Scientology.
The people we see on screen aren't the same people in real life. Some fall for this stuff.
Although after hearing about the Scientology documentary, I think Travolta is probably more akin to Vinnie Bobarino.
from what i understand is this.. one of his wifes was a jw. he studied a little bit, but has a serious smoking habit. he said in an interview that he believes the basic doctrine of the dubs. but, can't give up smoking to commit. subsequently his marriage ended. i thinks he was abusive, not sure.
but, remember...that doctrine has changed quit a bit. so he may not believe anymore. just like all of us saw through the scam of the WTBT$.

Actually, he wanted too much money to reprise the role in Iron Man 2, so Marvel Studios replaced him.
But that's probably splitting hairs.
Don Cheadle's better in the role, anyway.
I don't find it that strange, and here is why.
If you haven't really thrown your hat in the ring as a witnesses you don't feel the effects of the cult. At a safe distant just seems like zealous honest people. Even baptized witnesses that appear zealous and seemingly walk the walk may be fringe in their understanding of doctrine, in their experience of F.O.G. and so forth. To these it seems to only propagate good. As an example, how could you appreciate the fear of being shunned by everyone you love if you are never signed up for it?
