If I can mangle your analogy a bit, KenpoDragon, maybe the "right car" is not a car but a bicycle.
It is an easy case to make. Bicycles are FAR more energy efficient than automobiles, they pollute very little (figuring in the by products of manufacture). Their energy source is as renewable as the food supply, and they improve or maintain the health and fitness of the user.
Why then do people use cars?
For a reason that exists throughout the animal kingdom - the pursuit of comfort.
I believe that there is no one right religion - that the right religion is not a religion, but a rational philosophy.
If mankind embraced a rational philosophy, ther would be much less conflict than there is over religion, because a rational philosophy is not built upon the imaginations of its adherents but upon the solid evidence of the senses - a rational philosophy will be congruent with observable reality, not counter to it as religion is.
Why do people cling to this deficient vehicle called religion?
Comfort.
I realise that many, even most of the people here may disagree with my opinion. That's OK. I do not regretfully look back to barbarian times when an infidel could be stoned to death. I love them anyway, and I believe that where there is life there is hope.
