I am sure that if you were involved with the congregation as a baptized individual that not attending would hve been dealt with judicially. The action might not have been swift but be assured that the lack of interest would have been i nterpreted as rebelious?

I am curious as to what kind of trial is going on, I have missed something?? The head of Bethel?

Please inform me of the trial type and maybe I can be of more help?

I just thought of something else about this: I shall call it THE POLICEMAN ANALOGY.

The elder's are the self-proclaimed and de-facto policemen of the congregation. (Actually, they are also the Crown Attorney and the Justice, but I digress).

Imagine a situation where a uniformed policeman tells a young woman "come with me down to the station, we are interrogating a criminal and you need to confront him".

Later, when the dim-witted cop gets in trouble for causing so much grief to the young woman he ordered to go to the confrontation, he claims in court "she came downtown of her own free will. I didn't force her."

Surely the court would recognize that a uniformed police officer would not be able to make such a ridiculous claim post hoc. Surely the justice would roll her eyes if presented with such a weak defence.

Yet this describes exactly what we have here. The established person(s) in authority, carrying the full weight of the (religious) law, ordered young Vic to go to the confrontational meeting, but are now trying to say the meeting was optional and Vic was not forced to go.

Sorry, I don't think the judge would buy that story from a cop, and I hope she will see the analogy and not buy it from "Tweedle-Dee" and "Tweedle-Dum".

I think it has something to do with, "Jehovah's theocratic arrangement" which he lovingly provides in the form of these men who have been put into their positions of leadership and, as good Christians, we would not want to be disrespecting or disobeying or challenging them or arguing with them or slandering them or questioning them.

Thanks so much everyone. I don't know how I could have done this alone. My husband had to go back to work in Fredericton, and the trial is in Toronto, which is 15 hours away. I will be on my own monday. I will try and put all this info together. I love the wt quote on subjection, organized to acc. our ministry. The judge should like the headship one too! THanks again. Its nice to have a family like all of you who have helped me so much, and provided encouragement. This has been a very difficult 2 weeks. I just want this to be over so I can get on with my life, and finally have a sense of closure. I miss my 3 little girls. I haven't seen them in almost 3 weeks. I will check my mail.
