Are you saying that one person in 30,000 is a Witness? If so, I must challenge the math. The U.S. Census Bureau says that there are 288,142,806 people in the U.S. And there are about one million (1,000,000) Witnesses in the U.S., last I heard. Would that not make about 1 in every 288 people a Witness?

Ephan: Give it another read. I said that 1/3 of 1% of the population is JW. That's 1 out of 300 (approx). If 1% of JW's are shaken (ie, 1 out of 30,000 population), it has a big impact on the organization, but on a national scale, is negligible.

In other words. You can have a big impact on the org without seeing throngs of discontented ones. They are a pretty sparse group.

    Hi Jim,

I tend to agree with you. The average rank and file JDub just does what he's always done, and thinks like he's always thought. They are still right and we are still wrong. And, even if we might be just a little bit right, it doesn't count, because we're all gonna die anyway.

However, the average rank and file JDub better be taking a real interest in their own responsibility to aiding and supporting the WTBTS, and the damaging control they have over people's lives.

People cannot continue to simply hide behind the skirts of the borg and claim ignorance. These issues are now out there for all to see. It is not propaganda by "apostates". Personally, I don't give a hoot if people want to have their own belief system. I'm not going to judge them for that, or try to convince them the error of their way. However, if I come across someone I can help on a personal level, or here on the forum, I'm going to make that effort.

The elders may not be responsible directly, and neither may congregation members. But, when they learn the facts, if they continue to allow this WTBTS to protect and hide abusers, then they become guilty by association. They cannot just pretend they aren't involved. They are!

The ones that see the wrongdoing and injustice are the ones that will make their decisions to leave. I believe there are many fence-sitters right now. The others will stubbornly hold onto the ship as it sinks. We should be looking for those who want to be helped, and in that way, we can do the most good. Whatever the number of honest hearted good people that get out, is worth whatever efforts we make on our part to support them and help them.

Jim- I thought the idea was to help the victims. Will they change WT policy? Could happen. Will JW's still be here in 20 years? Probably. Will or should these efforts diminish the numbers in the WT? I personally think that will not happen, at least long term. And I personally think that it will be the great numbers in the org that could have the greatest ability to change JW policy. I also believe that stopping the growth of the WT is not a good goal. One would hope that truth alone would do that. The victims need support, counseling and legal services. Pediphiles are not just a JW problem by a long shot. What one should do is to lobby that all suspected pediphiles be reported to the police in all states. Then one would have a legal tool with which to force a change in JW policy. The march should be in Washington and the e-nails should be to our congressmen and senators. They have the capacity to force a change. When one marches against the GB we only show support that they are the big bad controllers of god's peopel they claim to be. When we turn to the governments elected officials we demonstrate that we know the GB are just men who can be forced to submit to the laws of Ceasar. What a better, more effective, lasting resolution to the problem.

Did the JW's believe that DATELINE was BIASED when they ran stories about the CATHOLIC PEDOPHILE COVER-UP?

They will never be held to account over anything. It's becoming their trademark. They are the true religion. Work back from that and the rest is Satan, apostates, sabotage and willful misrepresentation and bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla........................ and more bla.

ps I don't quite know how you manage Field Service, but I'm trying not to judge you. I'm sure you have a very difficult time with balancing your knowledge with your situation.

Well, if I was in Field Service, I would tell the householders THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT "THE TRUTH".

what's changed ? more and more people that have taken the WTS's b--s--t in the past have been encouraged by the strength of others to finally come forward and confront the WTS regarding accepting some responsibility for their actions. Rome didn't fall in a day, or is it Rome wasn't built in a day ?

i guess you are implying that Jehovah "pulls the strings" within the WBTS, I think by the number of times that they have got it wrong it shows that he is not.

    you don't say ?

Well, say it doesn't do anything. I mean nothing at all besides make the organizers of marches and a small number of victims feel a bit better. Now if that's the only good to come of these tireless efforts than that's something. At least, it's something to me anyway. Maybe it won't even make a dent, I don't know. But it's worth something that people tried. So, at the very least, that's still pretty special in my opinion.

Of course, I do think it will make a difference in the larger sense as well. But even if it only serves to bring comfort to those affected by this terrible situation, that's still something to be pleased about.
