While I secretly smile with glee that this paper pointed out the woman was a JDub, it also offends me that the religion of every other suspect isn't pointed out with the same fervor.
Perhaps if every suspect's religion were named, people would see that there is no 'One Religion' better than another.

As long as you suit up and sit at a meeting your a witness, the better the lyer you are the further up the ranks you can go,For example, I attended my neices wedding I was using the jon, sit down variety, At the baquet hall they had an elaborate bar with every kinda booze you can think of and everyone was getting really drunk, I had been there an done that and had been clean and sober for a good while, anyway I was taking note of the amount of booze being consumed (if you think theres not a alchohol abuse problem in the org your just kidding yourself, anyway I was sitting on the Jon 3 brothers who I have known for years came in and obviously had a good buzz going, the part that shocked me was when they pulled out there wallets and began snorting coke out of the folded up papers that were inside, my imagination you say, no one of them went to use the toilet but left his wallet on the toilet paper dispenser I checked the stall after they left to make sure no one saw me in there, in the wallet of the MS I had known for so long was a diamond shaped paper wrapper that when you unfold it contained a good amount of white powder, I dumped it in the toilet put the wallet back were I found it and had fun watching this MS go back into the bathroom and come out looking as if he had seen a ghost.

Is it possible that this person was a Bible Study and it was that kind of "religious meeting" that was going on in her home?
That makes a lot more sense to me than if she was an exemplerary member of the cong.

That has always been something that jumped right out and I've noticed it to. For years it has always been that way.
Not even Quakers get as much attention when they commit a crime. LOL
Its almost as though JW news is in the same league as celebrity news. AND when a celeb becomes a JW it makes the news.Wild!!!
I've never heard anouncments made pertaining to celebs religion of preference except ones that became JWs or Muslim
Its even the same for ex-JWs. There are more ex-JWs hanging on to the WT then there have ever been ex-Catholics or ex- Baptist or ex- mormons even hanging onto their Church's.What does it mean!

Lisa and Plum,
Regarding Lisa's comment, "While I secretly smile with glee that this paper pointed out the woman was a JDub, it also offends me that the religion of every other suspect isn't pointed out with the same fervor."
I'd like to offer my view. In all the articles on this that I found, only one mentioned the comment from the woman's husband that she was a Jehovah's Witness. I don't see very much fervor in the press' pursuit of this sound byte. I can, however, understand how any reporter who has even slight familiarity with the JWs will see this as a "weird twist" on the story if not an example of outright hypocrisy on the part of the Borg. It may even be that a reporter who knows some Dubs might think that any murdering theiving crack ho who claimed to be a Dub was lying.
Whatever the case, I find these stories of interest - I share your secret glee, your schadenfreude.
After all, OTHER religions have murdering theiving crack whores, so why shouldn't the Jehovah's Witnesses? Aren't they just like anyone else? It's not as if they're the only true religion (tm) or have God's Spirit(c) upon them or something, is it?

Crack/coke is a terrible drug. There is nothing the dubs could do to help her. Now, in prison, in socalled satans system, she can get help. Being in jail has a way of breaking down a person's denial.

Yep, Thats the way it always is
If we were to do an extensive search just on this forum alone we would no doubt be able to find tons of news reports and articles where there was only "one mention" that the person was a JW. If we could tap into International Archives we would probably find a minimum of thousands of reports in news articles where the JW's faith was only "mentiond once". Casual as it might be, it is still mentioned more then not.
Right now Muslims are getting the same treatment but only because some of them flew planes into the world trade center. Only since then has it become something always brought up or at least mentioned. If a Muslim, or anyone looking like a Muslim, were to cause an accident for example, it would be mentioned on the news that the person who caused the accident was a Muslim.
On another note,
I've known a lot of JWs who were on drugs for long periods of time, and some who still are. In good standing. It really isn't that uncommon. Just because someone loses their ability to reject drugs, does not necessarily mean they lost the ability to hide it well. Drug addiction can bring out the sneakiest of skills in most people. And sometimes it can last for years before the addict crashes and burns.
Drug use is away to escape.

Hi Plum,
I've missed your point, I think.
Would you prefer that the press should support the WTS PR spin that "Jehovah's Witnesses are the happiest, most wonderful, bestest people on earth" by ignoring the name of the cult of which a criminal is a member?
Not me. I want the goofy cross-eyed, gap-toothed, zit-filled, festering face of the Watchtower broadcast in HDTV format to every home in the world for all to see in repulsive living color.
OTHER religions occasionally try to actually HELP their members when they get into trouble. Not the WTB&TS; their solution is to have the afflicted one spend more time selling WTS publications door-to-door, attend more meetings, whisper more unto the deaf Jehovah sock-puppet.

WellNathan now Im flabbergasted. I sincerely believe we are NOT on the same page at all . Lol.
No, that is not what I mean by my comments. My comments were observations and there was no particular meaning or agenda behind them, nor did they have anything to do with what kind of organization the WTBTS is or is not.
Just an observation, an objective one.
