The 21-year-old American captured her eighth tournament victory of 2002, one more than her older sister Venus. Serena already took her sister's Wimbledon and U.S. Open crowns, as well as the French Open championship - all coming over Venus.
"I am very happy to have won my eighth title this year," Serena said. "I have to thank my God, Jehovah for allowing me to have a year such as this. Anastasia had a great week, especially beating Kim (Clijsters) yesterday. I knew I had to be on my toes."

This reminds me how religious football players thank Jesus for their victories and pray to him. I wonder if anyone has told Serena the offical position of the WTS on competitive sports.

I think some young brothers and sisters should have a file on these sisters to show the elders when they come calling to tell them that competing in sports is a no-no.

I thank Jehovah every day for the great contributions to humanity He has made through His faithful servant Serena.

Surely her tennis victories over infidels has improved the general condition of mankind, and vindicated the name of Jehovah throughout the universe.

    Not!

What happened to the idea of "not putting yourself on a pedistal"? When I was in, the WTS would teach that one would not put themselves in a postition to "look at me" like being an athlete, actor, etc.

Somehow, I do not believe she lives in the same religion as we did.

Those girls actually seem really nice. But they are winning so much lately I find myself rooting for the underdogs that play them.

Sounds like it's time for a shepherding visit on the Williams sisters to discuss playing in afterschool sports.....that's a big no-no!!!

We all know that the best defence against a Judicial Committee is that object known as the BLANK CHEQUE. Heh. Geesh, it makes me fume to think of all the sporting activities the Tower forced me and my Dub "friends" to miss out on in our school days, when these Sisters are doing it every single day, and not even getting a slap on the wrist! Talk about your hypocritical policy enforcement! I betcha the Elders in their Congregation received a letter from the Society saying that it's a "conscience matter" whether to play sport or not...after a sizeable DONATION to BETHEL. Yep.

Jehovah is a GOD of LOVE

"I am very happy to have won my eighth title this year," Serena said. "I have to thank my God, Jehovah for allowing me to have a year such as this.

Jehovah lets her win her matches. Jehovah is really blessing her. Then tell me why he blesses her in her sport, while the Bible says that sport is not usefull for much, and lets my granddaughter die at an age of not even two years, while my daughter and son in law are perfect Witnesses, my son in law is Ministrial Servant, tell me why?
