So if you think about it they are admitting that "going after someone" can actually have the reverse effect and push them further away.

Just out of curiosity, why were they talking about you? Was she trying to get them to go after you to punish you? I ask because I have parents like that. Or was she just upset about your status and they were comforting her? Hopefully it is closer to the latter. If the former, my heart goes out to you. -

I realize this could be anything from something you actually did that was none of their business to something they have invented.
Just curious what is in their minds and what they are saying to your mother.

My mom is very ill and I help her quite a bit. The elders have been very helpful to her and they are aware of my assistance toward my mom. As a former well respected elder, who was very much liked, they hope that whatever was behind my decision to leave, I will read their new brochure and feel compelled to return to Jehovah. That's it in a nutshell.
