It says pedophiles "aren't given" responsibilities not that they haven't or even that they won't be given such. Or for that matter that they don't "earn" such responsibilities at times. In other words another WT word game example, Theocratic Warfare as they call it. All in the words, just words. Reality sharpens our perceptions of what the truth really is. There are now many elders in prison in various countries for pedophilia, and pedophiles are still going door-to-door.

Always nice to see the press coverage....especially since Lakeland Fl is the town I grew up in and I know at least half the elders in that town.

Lakeland was the town I was in when everything "hit the fan", so to speak...I'm wondering who tipped off the Ledger about the march, I would love to talk to them!! If they're from Lakeland, there's a good chance I know them as I spent 30+ years there (yeah, I know...scary hey? )

I don't know the source of the info. I'm from Tallahassee. What is amazing is that this is one of the few papers that have actually reported on the march. And it's not even a major city.

See you are home from teh March! It was great meeting you there.
I lived in Lakeland myself from 1992-1995. I was going to the KH trying to be reinstated. I Da myself in 1991 when I lived in Vermont after a Case in Montpelier hit the news.
I applied for a job in Winne Dixie in 1993 on 92 and Fish Hatchery Rd. NOw a JW woman worked at the time in the Deli where I was going to the hall. She had no idea I was Da or reason why I left.
I got the job and the lady who hired me knew I was going to the KH, I told her the nights I could not work and she said it was OK. She told me to come back in one hour to get my hours. I did and there all of a sudden there was no job. I asked her of there was a problem with my application and she said no. I told her what may have happened and asked if I could work for another department. She said no, so I asked to speak with the Manager.
I asked him the same thing. He said I could not have a job there. I told him myformer mother-in-law used to work there when she was alive. He said she was a good woman and implied I was not. He did not know me for him to imply such a statement. I had over 2 years in spermarket cash handling experice there was nothing worng with my application.
2 weeks later I went shopping with my girlfriend went by the deli. JW woman said to the other woman ( I did not know woman #2 was a JW) I fixed it so that disfellowshipped person can't work here."
I threanted the store I was going to the EEOC. All of a sudden the elder showed up. I only missed a week at the Kingdom Hall.
They started the conversation,"We missed you at the Hall, do you belive you are going to be in the new system. (All the blah, blah stuff of I am going to die at Armegeddon crap after that)"
I told them, "I don't know if I am going to be there, but I RATHER BE IN HELL THAN TO BE IN THE NEW SYSTEM WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU! BTW,GET OFF MY PORCH!"
Safe do you still live in Lakeland? I like to get in tough with them about a story.

Yes, that link to the article is no good. So I went to their HOME page and searched for the following key words, all to no avail:

BrooklynThen I did their "BROWSE" of each day's stories. The have all dates/stories from today, 10-5-02, back thru 9-22-02. But I only looked thru 10/4, 10/3, 10/2. If anyone wants to search from there back to 9-22, feel free please. The "BROWSE" option is at the bottom of any of the windows.
That's a shame, as I did not see this article come thru the Silentlambs Email List, and we could have sent it to BB to spread around. Especially since so many were complaining there was not enough newspaper coverage, hate to miss one.
Maybe the article was in ANOTHER LAKELAND PAPER? Are there more than THIS ONE in that area?
There was a guy convicted of child molesting. Anyone know if he's a dub by any wild chance?

Man Convicted of Lewd Molestation
A Polk County jury convicted a 55-year-old Bradley man Wednesday of two counts of lewd molestation on a child.
Curt Bobby McPherson, of 6935 Third St., faces up to 30 years in prison when he's sentenced Nov. 22. He was accused of assaulting a 7-year-old girl in September and October 2001.
----------Hey Noway... that's a TERRIBLE thing that JW did to you at the Winn-Dixie. Where do they get off interfering in employment? That's REALLY REALLY terrible! Does NOT sound like a "small town" I'd want to be living in.

The article was there yesterday, but it's not up today. Maybe it hasn't been posted in their archives yet. You might want to try a search in a few days. The first article at the top of the page had to do with Christian Scientists and the second one was on the JWs.
I would have typed the article in myself, but I don't know what the copyright laws are in regards to that. Does anyone know?

Thanks Kenneson. I didn't think about the time-lapse for the article to be moved to the archives. That makes sense. --- As far as copyright laws, sorry, I don't know the ins-outs of those.
