It's absolutely true, Her Ladyship and I spent Saturday night with the Sex Slaves From Hell.

We'd driven down to Celtic country - Cornwall - to view the Eden Project Wow, don't miss it, it's stunning! More on that another time.

But..Saturday night we visited Charlestown, where we decided to have a few bevvies at an interesting looking pub called The Rashleigh Arms. Inside there was playing an outstanding band that put me in mind of Fairport Convention on speed. They were outstanding, if you ever get the chance, go see 'em.

Here's a link to a snippet of their music:

Well, their name gets them a bit of attention! If you said that you saw Steeleye Span or the Levellers or the Wurzels, or one of the other yokel bands, it's unlikely that I would have looked at this thread!! Maybe it's time I re-evaluated this genre!

    Hey Matty,

That was an interesting pic that I saw of you, are you now a sex slave too?

    Heh heh heh.

    Matty,

In my earlier post, I mentioned a band named Fairport Convention. Then, your name came up on the thread. Then I remembered this song, please tell me you are not THE Matty Groves:

I think they may be related in some twisted musical way to these lovely ladies, Satan's Cheerleaders, which rock like hellish and thoroughly naughty little girls..BTW I like the Sex Slaves sound Eman...thanks for the link.

'I'd rather a kiss from dead Matty's lips than you and your finery'

There's a group I don't hear people talk about! (But then, actually, I never did.)

I've always loved their sound but it's always had a certain 'eeriness' to it. Perhaps it's the 'celtic' influence.

    Sandy Dennis, right?

    Where is she now?

I don't know what happened to Sandy Dennis.

One folk singer that I have enjoyed listening to for many years is Harvey Andrews. "The Soldier" and "Hey Sandy" are his most famous, although I particularly like his "Gift of a brand new day".

There's a short clip of his voice here:http://www.speakingvolumes.co.uk/andrews.htm

    Almost a 'too short' clip.

But thank you. He sounds nice (in 25 words or less)

    ;-)
