I want to put the board on notice that this "kelsey007" person is a JW in good standing (possibly even several JWs posting under the same handle) and is on this board only to stir up trouble. Take a close look at his posts. Every one manages to stir the pot in some way -- damning with faint praise, causing trouble for the silentlambs movement or Bill Bowen personally, or worst, downplaying the plight of victims of abuse.

IslandWoman, you are back to your old pot stirring. I thought you had changed. Guess not.

Bill Bowen gave up the life he knew in the Watchtower organization to be of assistance and to defend the rights of abused children. The witnesses now will have nothing to do with him and he is bashed and called names by them continually.

Then when he came to this community of ex-jws where he should be getting approval, support and understanding for his brave stand, he is being bashed and called names continually.

It's very sad.

Seems things are getting worse, Ray had more years of exsisting to learn from his mistakes before he took the public platform, he also had many more years of writing experience before he wrote his excellent books, it wouldnt be fair on BB to assume that he should be just as experienced as Ray. Bill will probably learn as he goes along, some of us often learn the hard way. Ray, being the gentleman he is, has extended the invitation for Bill to ring him and "clear matters up", he is graceful enough to discuss the matter and will possibly forgive the misunderstandings, we should be graceful enough to do the same.

If BB has lied in any way then he should definately make his apologies, things can only get worse if someone tries to justify a lie. He also should answer the questions that have been put to him. However we should still allow for the fact that this is all a misunderstanding and it is possible for Ray to have said something that Bill interpreted as being supportive of WT policies, even if it wasnt.

Both men have a honorable purpose, unfortunately neither are inocculated against putting their foot in it occasionally.

If I sat and listened to 5000 abuse victims I would probably run around like an headless chicken occasionally and point the finger at the wrong man, after holding the heads of even 10 victims one could easily get angry and see a whimsy statement as being a very serious understatement of the sex crimes against children, maybe this is what has happened, perhaps BB thinks everyone should be just as outraged at these sex crimes as he is, perhaps Ray made a whimsey statement and didnt sound outraged and that is what has given rise to the current whirlwind...its all "perhaps" until we hear anything else so we should wait and see. What is obvious is that Ray would be just as outraged but far too gentlemanly to sound anything other than composed and calm....seems to me this is where the problem began.

Silentlambs and Bill Bowen are 2 different things each supported by the other. over 5000 silent lambs are comfortable in encouraging BB to be a spokesman on their behalf and he has done a terrific job for them, if anyone is supporting silentlambs they should continue to do so regardless of this whirlwind, BB is a representative of those treated unjustly, unfortunately that will often push him a bit further to the edge. If he was replaced by someone else then we would probably have the same threads all over again, whoever represents silent lambs will be made of the same stuff as you and I, and that will bring with it the same problems as BB is having, whether they be wild accusations or self induced problems.

It appears that "this lie" has become the biggest thing that BB has ever done in some minds, yet surely the biggest thing that he has done has brought a voice to people whose lifes have been destroyed? One doesnt justify the other but where is the thanks for overlooking all the good with something that may be a misunderstanding?

Are you for Ray or are you for Bill? Is similar to saying are you for Appolos or for Paul? The fact is both of these guys are working for the same cause, and that is to bring freedom to those caught up in a disgusting abusive religion.

I do not agree with much of anything Bill Bowen does and I think he makes to many mistakes based on emotion, but I think this thread is in bad taste. He does have a heart and he is human, and deserves better then such a personal attack.

Alan- I presume that you THINK that you know me. Some here do know me. Some aer also aware that my ungly mug was pasted on the front page of the Tennessean Newspaper earlier this year as a df'd jw. I have not stepped foot in a KH in over a decade. I strongly do not agree with WT policies.

My question to you then Alan- on what factual basis do you make your claim? This kind of "lie" is unsettling in the face of what statements and accusations have been attributed to Mr Bowen. Care to explain yourself on this one?
