The whole world is trying to figure out the Bible (that is those who believe in it). JWs don't claim to have worked it all out. We just preach and publish material to the best of our understanding.
FaithfulJW, what you say sounds very reasonable, and if that were all there was to the story, many of us here would not have the problems with the organization that we do. On the one hand, JW's will say, as you have, that they 'don't have it all worked out' and that they're 'doing the best they can'. But on the other hand, the organization enforces its doctrines upon all its members, and will quickly disfellowship and condemn anyone who publicly disagrees. To do that is, in effect, a claim to infallibility, no matter how much you deny that claim out of the other side of your mouth. The leadership of the organization calls itself the "faithful and discreet slave," but its actions toward any who cannot accept all of its teachings are much closer to that described for the "evil slave". If they really "don't claim to have it all worked out," then they should humbly tolerate those who disagree, rather than arrogantly attacking them.
You just can't have it both ways. If you are going to claim the authority of speaking for God, then you must also accept the responsibility that goes with the position.
I remember a 1993 (I think) magazine that argues that JW's could not be false prophets, because false prophets do not admit their mistakes. That is specious reasoning, at best. The only sort of prophets who could admit their mistakes are false prophets. True prophets, who really get their information from God, don't make mistakes - God never gives incorrect information!
