Quick, someone call the elders

My ex was an elder and the calls from disgruntled flock members were unending. Where people gather, there will always be bickering.....and the bickering within the fold were NOT few and far between....it was constant like the monotonous dripping of a leaking tap. I also think that the elders, though they meant well, were not equipped to deal with some of the deeper emotional and mental reasons that caused the taps to leak. They think that if they did all things the bible's way it would be alright...WRONG! Some screwed up nut cases didn't get the attention they craved and some really worth while individuals were overlooked or were counselled.

Girl, focus on the things in your life that are positive and that bring you joy. You have turbulent times (ie. hubby) ahead of you and you are going to need to surround yourself with the positives rather then the negatives. I know that when we have been wronged we hold on to it for a long time....but it is not constructive thinking and it only steals from us valuable time we could be spending with those we love and who love us back. Make the ones you love your priority number 1 and those whom you despise, as you clearly do, your priority number zillionith. You NEED the number 1 people, you don't need the number zillionith crowd. Capture the goodness that surrounds you and save it up Snoozy...believe me...one day you will wish you did.

Beck I gotta laugh your remarks made me remember sitting through the meetings and always being able to tell when the speaker (if it was an elder) was being a bit too telling in his comment sermon. Know what I mean?LOL

Like: Hmmm...I wonder whom THAT remark was REALLY directed at this week.... LMAO! There seemed to be an awful lot of remarks from the microphone that didn't really have anything to do with those darn Corinthians. how many people would look around the room inconspicuusly ofcourse when ever there was a remark refering to the behaviour of those bone headed Jews.HAhahahaha.

Ohmygosh, you had it too Plum. In my old cong a vendetta was going on between two elder's and their families...it went on for years until one elder's son committed suicide. The son left a suicide note which named names and he pointed his anguish at the other family, it was tragic. So sad that their unresolved issues filtered down the line and affected the kids to that degree. So much for christian love eh, and the worst thing is, each family continues to go to the meetings thinking that the other family won't survive armageddon. *shakes head*

When I saw that happen, I always thought "what a way to lead people into love." The congregation always had it all figured out, long before any elders would admit to it. Sometimes it was like holding a score card to keep track of who was getting in the latest shot on someone. I remember when one child got disfellowshiped, I could just about see a smile forming on the other elders face. "Oh could you feel the love?"

    My thought

Not frightning at all, been pretty much on my own since age 16, never once called the elders, they always gave me this creepy children of the corn type feeling anyways.

That movie had a lot of things that made me think of JW's. More so now then when I saw it then.

    Take Care
