What does this scripture mean to you?

I thought it's very weak for WTBTS eplained about a central structure of Gov. Body, for at first, they couldn't explain the incident when Jesus'disciples went out for preaching and come back to report something like the scriptures you quoted. Then they attempted to explain that "Yes, when Jesus still on earth, they may not have a central structure," for if they had, why Jesus accept others not within the group of 70 or closed disciples. WTBTS said , "however, when Jesus poured holy spirit at Pentecost onward, they should have a central structure." But, you can see latter on, when Peter and Paul going around, they still find some preaching about the salvation from Jesus without holy spirit, and Paul or Peter (even John) accepted those ones, laid hand to help them receive holy spirit. There is no central structure of Gov Body at all. They surround by local congrs. instead.

    That's my opinion.

And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us

..there's an interesting follow on in Romans 8: 31.

"If God be for us, who can be against us?."

So it would seem that if you're not against Jesus you're for him, which logically follows that God would be for us too. If God is for us then no-one can be against us.

    Hello Valis,

Luke 9: 49,50 New Living Translation,

49 John said to Jesus, "Master, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons. We tried to stop him because he isnt in our group."

50 But Jesus said, "Dont stop him! Anyone who is not against you is for you."

It Seems to me that Jesus was showing his desciples a lesson in pragmatism. If the man casting out demons in Jesus' name was not hurting them, was not robbing them, persecuting them, slandering them, or adversely treating them in any way, then they should just leave him alone like the man wanted. The deciples are fostering peace for themselves by not hassling somone who's not bothering them.

The overall atmosphere of peace and wellmeaningness on this board and between the posters can benifit from this common sense approach.

We know watchtower has many enemies because they hate EVERYONE and they create a spirit of antagonism even within their own ranks, ( gossipping, spying on each other, reporting doubts to elders and such ).

A practical approach to how we view each other on this board can be to treat each other as if we were neighbors living on the same block. Good neighbors look out for oneanothers interest. They treat fellow neighbors like how they want to be treated, with fairness and respect. If they dissagree, they have a barbacue and settle matters out, ( you know what I mean ).

It can be done. You just have to think of other posters as human beings with feelings also, because everyone has them. We then can view each other with a greater sense of humanity.

OK, I'm getting off my soapbox now.

he that is not against us is for us.

As far as the Bible goes,

Jesus 'he gave his life for ALL who would believe in him',

he also said 'let ANYONE who hears, take lifes water free',

he also said that, ' whosoever would believe in him would have life'.

The bible also said that those nations who have NO LAW and do the things of the LAW ....are a LAW to themselves. They have it written on their conscience.

No Religion, no man made authority, no leaders.......just you and him.....whoever you are.

Great Post Valis, the Watch Tower will say Jesus could only say that cause everyone was still under the law of Moses. Because the Christian cong hasnt been established, that all Jews would be acceptable, in their worship.

But I think Jesus words here agree with his other words where he says two are more are gathered I am also there. Kills that whole going to 5 meetings a week thing.

Hm...I just wrote a poem about this...

    Just Enough Jesus

I was spooning soup into the mouth of an old blind storefront preacher,
and she pushed my hand aside
    And said:
    Honey I gotta testify.
I see you know Jesus, don't tell me different,
but you know him by another name.
Now I know there ain't any other name under heaven by which to get saved,
But I gotta tell you something.

When I lost my babies Jesus took me underground to find them,
Right through the basement walls into the shooting gallery. My baby girl saw me

& smiled. "The pipes busted," she said, "I can see the water drip," but it was me. "Hi, mama," and they thought she was seeing things.

Straight up through the floor outside to where my baby boy was turning tricks. Didn't he look fine in tight pants and little tiny shirt!

The sunlight blinded him coming off a window pane
and he said: "My mama used to look at me like that. I must be seeing things." But he wasn't - not Jesus.

Straight into the pipes into the church where my oldest boy was all set to preach against the other two.
The choir was singing, so nobody heard him but me:
"Now what is my Mama's face doing in that stained-glass window?"

I didn't get to bring them home, but they know me still.
Jesus hid behind me. I asked him why he did that, and he said: Maybe they'll see me better.

Yes, Lord, I answered: God is love!

No, baby, you got that backwards, he said.

    Love is god. Me.

Sometimes I use your driver's license so I don't get carded. How else you think I get through these walls?

    Baby when the cops come
Jesus don't always give his right name.

: And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

It proves that Jesus didn't understand the term "false dilemma" nor the concept of "neutral."

I'm not against people running around makings asses of themselves. Does that mean I'm "for" people running around making asses of themselves? No.

That scripture or any other one for that matter, means nothing to me. They are just words rearranged by somebody I do not know or trust.
