I don't miss a single thing. When I was still in the org and still thought it was the "truth" I use to wish that no one had come to my door and that I was ignorant if Jehovah's org.......jurs
Do You Ever "MISS" Being A JW, Elder,...

Hi Blondie,
I said I missed dying for something...I didn't say it was the organization. I believed in Jehovah enough that I would have died for Him, no question about it. So I meant I missed dying for a cause that involved a higher power.
I've been taking care of myself for 18 years now and I'm happy with my life now.
I think Minimus asked a very good question. If there are some on this board that miss certain things about the Witnesses, they're not wrong. They're human. Feelings are one thing that can not be legislated. People shouldn't be judged for their honest responses. [not that I think you were judging me Blondie. Just want people to feel like there is no right or wrong answer here!]

Amazing
I don't miss it, even for a New York minute.

min, what kind of elder were you?
That's a pretty subjective question, min. I think I have always tried to help people when asked and even when not asked if their behavior is life-threatening. I find that JWs (whether elders or elderettes or not) who really care about people don't fare well at the KH or with the WTS. Those in authority want to "squeeze everyone into their mold" not in the likeness of Jesus. It has been said recently on JWD that if Jesus came to the congregation, he would be rejected. I agree with that observation strongly.
Morris, I'm sorry if it seemed like I was judging. I think someone said here on the board recently that if everything about being a JW was negative, we wouldn't have become one in the first place or wouldn't have stayed as long as we did.
I grew up in an abusive home and I would never recommend it for anyone. But I did bring some positive things out of that situation.

I do miss "it" in a way.
I miss old friends that I had. You can't replace old friends with new ones. For folks like all of us here, love for friends isn't conditional and deep down inside we still have that love for the dub friends we used to have who were "closer than a brother" or sister. (Proverbs 18:24)
I miss my family most of all. We had for a long time regular phone calls to stay in touch. Now even that has stopped.
Like I said, you can't replace old friends with new ones. Or replace your family. You can only make new friends and if you're like me even find new family. But always keep a place in your heart for the old friends and family no matter what has happened. Jesus died for them too and God hasn't forgotten them. (not to say He isn't a little pissed about how they act, but who wouldn't be?)
Mike.

Do I miss getting a root cannel? Nope ... and I do not miss being a Witness either. For some reason, both bring up the same thought of discomfort.
