Stupid question but why do we age, although scientists think it genetic, is it really why we age.
Religion says its due to sin.
Evolution says what on this subject
Its strange because many yearn for eternal life and thats probably why so many are attracted to religion.
I suppose it could be us wanting to survive, its still strange though because its such a waste

Why do you ask questions like a JW baiting the hook?
We age because of gravity, what we eat, smoke, drink and our environment.
Also oxygen. I heard one health professional say that technically, we rust. (antioxidants help, by the way)
Why shouldn't we age? All other living things age, so why should we be the exception?
We age because everything has a cycle, every thing has a time, and age allows us to realize that we must make the most of the time we get.

I was a jw and liked the prospect of eternal life, but now a non jw and still looking for answers
i still love life though its great
also mulan i also heard its due to oxygen causing free radicals or something and yes technically we rust but still why doesnt our bodies continue to function properly, but still i dont think i really believe thats what totally causes us to age and die
Free radicals within our cells are running rampid and breaking them down. That's why some people say taking anti-oxidents are so important, to slow down or stop those crazy free radicals. (so they say)
Do you get this upset when a beautiful, fresh picked rose withers, drops its petals and dies?
It's the life cycle, all living things on earth die and recycle, why should we be any different? Because we have a more advanced brain (debatable)? That's JW propaganda...oh a tree can live 200 years and a sea turtle 80 years...so man should live longer.
I'm just accepting this myself, but our youth obsessed culture takes all the joy out of the natural cycle of life, making older ones feel like they are experiencing something loathsome and un-natural.
Just my 2cents worth...

That's because they stay healthy by eating a lot of fish and cutting out the sugar .
