how time changes huh...I'm not so original with my kids either...I'm always saying 'well when I was your ages..blah blah blah' I must be sounding rather tedious by now, and its terribly unfair on the kids as we are living in such different times now...(critical times hard to deal with LOL)

I walked to school every day, all the kids did in those days, my kids catch the bus or get picked up, oh what hardship if they have to walk home from the bus stop LOL. In all honesty, my kids have a better life then I ever did...sometimes I resent it when they complain because they HAVE to put away the dishes or clean out their rooms...but I have put that down to them just being kids.

Tomorrow he is going to do it with the garage door up LOL.

LOL. Now that's something my little brother use to do. He was always this skinny litte runt (total momma's boy). Whenever my parents weren't home and one of their cars were in the garage he'd "steal" the car and drive around the block! Here this little kid driving my mom's station wagon around surburbia! Come to think of it, I never told mom about THAT one!

Regarding our kids not having it as tough as we did, I agree 100%. My parents immigrated here from Europe and opened up their own manufacturing firm. So working after school and during summer vacation with my father was a given. While I make my kids help around the house, working in a factory at the age 10 isn't a good thing! And don't even get me started on the type of clothes I buy my kids compared to the ones my parents bought. Yuck!
