To get a manicure. He is 8yrs old and has the same bad habit I do with biting nails. I am leaving to go to Vegas tomorrow and got my nails done for the event. I didn't want him just sitting there so I paid for him to have a manicure. His cuticles are terrible cause of the nail bitting and so I thought it would help him to see what his hands would look like with them treated. He had the hot wax treatment and LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was so excited about the whole experience and didn't bite his nails all day!!!! I was so proud of him. He wants to buy the waxing machine by saving his allowence--LOL. Maybe I found a cure for his nail bitting. He wants to go back again soon to do it again. I was glad he didn't see this as a "girl thing", and he enjoyed it. I had such a good time watching him enjoy being pampered (without me having to change any diapers--LMAO).

My youngest son bit his nails from the time he had teeth, then he proceeded to take his shoes and socks off and bite his toe nails in his car seat!.

He is a brilliant 19 year old now, and doesn't bite his toe nails any more.

Hey Jes! I don't think there is anything girlie about a manicure. I know a lot of guys who have it done. Christina has given me a manicure a couple of times, but I don't have the patience to sit still for it very often. I think it's a great solution to biting your nails. That's called being a good parent. Right?

NPY--I am glad your son got over the "problem". I am 26 and still bite my nails.

TX---It was so amazing he sat there for that long, but he has my gift for gab so he enjoyed talking to the lady while she was doing her job. His father makes him think certain things are "girly". I am glad he doesn't always allow the influence to take hold of him. He has been helping me to put on my make-up since he was 2. He enjoys playing with the make-up on me and we have alot of laughs because of it. He knows he can't wear it but likes to make me "pretty". I have black lipstick and he asked me to put it on this weekend, when I did we both busted out laughing!!! Then I gave him a big kiss on his cheek and we laughed even harder!!!!! I love the quality time we have to share in things like that. I think it will help him relate to women when he is older. Just my opinion

Hey, have a great time in Vegas.... I hated the place, but then again, I'm a freak. Every one else seems to love the place. Try seeing lots of shows. I didn't do any shows, so maybe that's what I missed.

OH trust me 6 he is a definate BOY!!!!!!!!! He loves sports and loves star wars and destroying things LOL. I have no ? about that, and if he turned out to be gay, i would be OK with that too. He is my son and i love him NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry about the nail thing it will pass. Just a stage thing and a manicure well is nice and a lot of guys get them. Best of luck both with your son and Vegas.

Make sure to take a side trip to the Hoover Dam. Its incredulous how they built it and awesome to see from below!!

Lake Mead is the best reason to visit Vegas.....I never was a gambler.

ohoh! just thought of something; dang you're probably gone.

There are some indian petroglyphs (sp?) to be found in Nat park about 1 hour north of Vegas. Really cool, intense red rock formations. That was fun, and a nice break from that goddam noise of slot machines, lol.

Can't think of the name, but I'm sure the hotels all have info on it.
