  There is no mention of priests, temples, altars, god's, goddesses in Rev. 18.

  Babylon the Great is described as being extremely rich (nothing richer than the USA)

  Babylon the Great is described as having dominance over the whole earth (since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 we live in what is called a monopolar world) The US has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.

  What religious entity can you say keeps all those who make a living at sea rich due to her shameless luxury.

  The USA is Babylon the Great.

  The Wild beast that Revelation says destroys Babylon the Great is Russia. The USSR appeared slaughtered to death but it lives on as Russia.

  Shortly after 9/11 a co-worker told me that one day he kept getting these thoughts in his mind that just wouldn't go away. He didn't know where or why the thoughts were coming. Anyway he believes that the next attack by terrorists will not be by planes, but that they are already here and secretly building nuclear bombs right here in the U.S. One to be detonated in New York City, one in Chicago and one in Los Angeles. He believes they are secretly bringing in the parts one by one and are assembling them. He didn't bring Russia into the picture. I , however,just don't know how terrorists could pull this off.

  Maybe you need to watch some CNN or something. The U.S. does not Control the World!! Do we control China? Do we control Africa? Do we control Germany or Britian (maybe! Sorry Englishman), now we do Control Canada- shit we need all that firewood. We also do not control Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Lebanon, Vietnam, Burma, Thailand, Loas, Malaysia, etc..etc..etc.....oh and South America (even though they are in our sphere of influence). And we do not control france because we dont want to deal with their whinning. So please cut back on all of your Vicodin usage as it is messing up your brain. Thank you and have a nice day :)

  The USSR/Russians never took M.A.D. Seriously. Their strategists have always considered a nuclear war winable for whoever strikes first - of course with high casualties. They had 20,000,000 casualties in WWII.

  Authoritarian nations are willing to take big risks. Initially its no risk for Russia to hand off a few nuclear weapons to terrorists. Who would the US retaliate against when there is no return address?

  Desperate people do desperate things. The embers of empire are still glowing in the psyche of the Russian people. If they don't do something soon they will go the way of Turkey.

  Putin is treacherous and it is believed that he was behind the bombs that killed 300 people in Moscow in 1999. The Russians blamed those explosions on the Chechens to justify resuming the war in Chechnya. Do you think it makes any difference to that sort of person whether he blows up 300 people or 300,000 people. All is fair when the alternative is obscurity.

  Everyone knows that before the great tribulation the Great Apostate Armies Of The North & South will rise up and do battle with the Dark Forces of The WTBTS. Pinching them wickedly and leering at their wholesome Sisterhood, the WTBTS will wail and gnash their teeth, bemoaning the naughty Apostacy and all its fun. Then the end will come...duh!

  While there may be several indications that Babylon The Great referred to in the book of Revelations might after all be the United States, however, there are other issues that need to be considered.

  Blood of holy ones is said to have been found in Babylon, indicating that at some point this entity will persecute true Christians. The US at present is not persecuting Christians, although one could argue that the US is protecting organized religeon in the US and abroad, which in turn IS persecuting true Christians. However, things could change to the worse. The US demographics are changing toward a plural multi-ethinic society that tend to favor more liberal values and less conservative ones. The current US administration makeup of so called Christian right individuals and the adoption of conservative policies might one day backfire and create a backlash against those policies and the entire Christian right culture.

  Babylon the Great is said to have fallen and God is seen telling "his people" to flee Babylon before it is destroyed. You seem to indicate that JWs are alone considerd to be "God's People". I do not share this view. God's people are those that are truly following Christ and not some man-made organization.

  One indication that would confirm the identity of Babylon The Great as the United States, is if one day we begin to see an exodus of some Christians from all denominations starting to take place. Remember that an angel in heaven is said to be proclaiming the downfall of Babylon and telling God's people to get out. This would indicate that at some point in time, true Christians would suddenly get an urge to flee.

  A nuclear attack on Manhattan, while may not be far fetched as you seem to allude, would incinerate many nominal as well true Christians before they get a chance to leave.
