Yerusalyim,
I think it was a good move on the bishops part. Now, I believe, the canon lawyers will have to be more involved. maybe even leading to changes in cannon law.
hi SixofNine,
I'm a catholic, who recently received the baptism of the holy spirit, I would like to say that I feal a sense of great shame, not about the "scandal"
(what ever that is), but about the acts of molestation perpetrated by priests and the way it has been handled in the past.
I understand that you can't get 3 people talking together without some politicks involved, even if it is only holding your tongue when you want to speak, but the time has come to put away politicks and cut off the offending arm, nothing short of this will stand.
As to the pope speaking infallible truth, he did that only 3 times. Some times I think the sects believe every thing the pope says and writes is to be considered infallible, like awake articles, but that's not the case at all.
I don't believe in the shroud or the new box found. I believe in the big bang and evolution. I love Mary but have no particular devotion to her, though I sometimes ask her to give my prayer to Jesus just in case he isn't listening to me, I know he loves our mother (mine as an adopted brother of Jesus). My beliefs on these subjects are completely acceptable by the church. There is a lot of miss information out there but this is accurate according to the catechism of the catholic church. all privet devotions are optional.
SHAME that is what I feal, doing the right thing now is good but nothing will change what has past. The future is ours to make and we will make it safe for kids. still that won't take my feelings of shame away.
I know this is a little muddy but I am L. D. and Christine isn't here to fix it. Sorry.
If you think I'm skirting anything let me know, it's not intentional, and I'll address it for you.
