Valis, Elsewhere, Windchaser,
I agree with what you guys said and that is much of the reason for anger.
But,..it goes further for me and many others.
Suppose someone makes a point about sin and how it came about. They say in their post that Satan posed as a serpent and decieved Eve.
Then the posters start in saying things like, "well, if anyone is dumb enough to believe in talking snakes"....or...."so God is going to allow mankind to suffer because a woman ate a piece of fruit centuries ago"....and so on.
Many times these threads become 'heated' by ones who think these idea's are so ridiculous that they want to tell the person who said it just how ridiculous they are. They really get mad.
It doesn't have to be a dub who gets the bad responses....it's anyone who refers to an event in the bible. Those who do not agree with the bible go for the throat many times of those that do....me included.
Is it because we WISHED the bible were true so questions in life could be answered and we could believed we had a heavenly father who loves us and will take care of things........but we can't because too many things in the Bible don't add up? I don't know, but I think the latter is true in my case.

Some people get angry because they are under the impression that the bible contains an absolute truth. Once a person belives that the bible contains an absolute truth, he feels compelled to have everyone else belived the absolute truth they way he does. When he see's that people don't see the same absolute truth that he does, he gets frustrated... and angry.
What is the Absolute Truth in the Bible?
John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 8:32: And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.
John 8:36: If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
John 14:6: Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through Me.

- Why? because people use it for stuff that we 'know' isn't good.
- Why do they? often there's something in it for them
- Why else? because they think they know what's good for you
- Why? because the bible told them so
- Did it? no, they just thought it did
- How come go to 2, if not then 3, when 3=4 then goto 7
- Why anger? goto 1 and when 2=3 then goto 8
- What can we do? if it makes you do anything unkind, goto 9
- What? read it again.

Like val said, i also would like to see them set free. But there's more. It's like the bible was used to mind rape me. When it is pushed at me again with authority, sometimes it's like an attempted rerape. I react *strongly*
