I was reading some recent postings that talked about the orientation meeting at bethel, and how the negative things were not to be reported back at the congregations.
Now that we are free from it all, how about sharing some of these tales?

Yes and I would like to ask for some stories describing "normal" life at Bet-hel.
For instance, at Selters German branch I heard of married couple sharing a room where there is only a single bed with a "pull-out" cot underneath. So one married partner sleeps on the cot, at floor level, while the mate is another half a metre higher up. How does that work when the romantic urge starts to itch?

You scratch it. Even staid couples scratch itches. Maybe they top and tail on the single bed.

I was at NY bethal in the early 90's. WHen you first get there you are assigned living quarters with another person- I went single. Orientation was special LOL. All I remember was the statement about not taking any of the negative things back to the congregations. Thats when I lost it. I also was taken back by Al Shcoders morning read of the Wall Street Journal at the morning spriritual event called breakfast. The lifestyle was very fast paced. You went to breakfast- went back to your room and dressed for work- ran to work then ran back to your room to get dressed in shirt and tie for lunch then rushed back to your room to get re-dressed for work and so on.
hahaha...does this ever bring back memories!
The new boy talk I remember most distinctly was the one on sex, ALWAYS done by Knorr (when he was still alive, of course! Guess that dates me, doesn't it? ) Many of us would tape record these talks so we could send the cool Bethel scuttlebutt back home. Knorr knew this, and the first words out of his mouth were "Turn off the tape recorders." Hehe, I was soon to learn why.
He proceeded very methodically through matters of What is an erection? What do you do if you wake up with an erection? What is masturbation? What is a wet dream? What if you have a wet dream...what will the housekeepers do with your sheets? Should you wear boxers or briefs? Pornography? What about the old geezers on the west-side promenade? LOL
Well, most of the talk was, as you can tell, about us brothers, because there weren't very many sisters at Bethel back then...but there WERE a couple in the group that night, and BOY, were they ever embarrassed. Knorr was very, VERY explicit in his description of all these things, on the grounds that "I've had too many young men tell me 'they didn't know,' so now I'm telling you straight out."
It was about 2 hours long, and at times I swear I could see froth at the edges of his mouth.
About 1 month later, there was a mass dismissal and disfellowshipping of 25 Bethelites and 2 Gileadites for homosexuality. Went on for 2 weeks.
So much for MY new boy initation rites! ROFLMAO

I also remember they used to have one hell of super bowl parties up there- you could hear them in the streets.
BTW onacruse both my dad and my uncle served under the Knor rulership. They both died inactive.
If one has not had the bethal experience they do not know the true meaning of WT slave. Did you ever wonder about the servants in your congregation that bragged about being a bethalite- but they left as soon as they could without making waves?

You mean "Bert?"
onacruse,
You left out the part that Knorr said about how guys could successfully take a pee without having to "touch" themselves and risk the (shudder) possibility of getting an erection.
I can't speak for all guys, but this guy NEVER even THOUGHT about an erection while peeing, let along got one. I suspect Knorr was a closet FuckWit.

I heard about a time in Sydney Australia Bethel in the 80's where a whole lot of Bethel couples got pregnant (well, the wives anyway) at around the same time. It was suspected that was done as an easy way for them to escape!
Anyway the story went around that because of this, there would be condom vending machines installed in the toilets at Sydney Bethel. I think it was a joke, but hey who knows?
Are married couples told how to practise contraception?

Onacruse, what year was that?
Thank you
