    Hence, while he lovingly ought to consider the wishes of his bride on this special day, and their families wishes, he primarily needs to accept responsibility for what will go on and for what will not.

    *L* Yeah right...only if the groom wants to sleep on the couch for the next ten years..*LOL*

    I second that! LOL, but if I did ever take the plunge again. I would have the wedding on the ocean shore, during the sunset.

    Scully,

    What do mean 'GAG ME'? The part about the groom being the 'scriptural head of the new family' was the part that made sense;

    I would just love to have seen my Dad (non-JW) pay for my sister's wedding, and someone else in the group directing the proceedings from a 'wholeseome, scripturally harmonious, in line with GB dicta' fashion. My Dad would'a mussed his perm!

    Even as a JW, I didn't really want a KH wedding.

    I've always wanted an outdoors one, in a garden somewhere, or perhaps in a mountain setting. Not a huge lavish affair, just close friends and relatives. And heaps of Greek dancing!!!

    I think so many people worry way too much about the wedding and not nearly enough about the marriage to follow. I got married by a justice of the peace, in his living room. 28 years later the wife is still hanging around.

    Now the honeymoon? Take a month, go to maui and enjoy yourself. A month doesn't cost much more than 10 days or two weeks. If you shop right.

    Then head back to the double wide and start hammering out little booger eaters by the litter full.

    I got married on the a coast (in my fathers back yard which overlooks the ocean) just before sunset and I'd never do it differently. I am inactive, my father is df'd and my husband is a sweetheart (no denomination). I don't miss having a Kingdom Hall wedding because after how the brothers and sisters were to me when I got engaged I realize that they wouldn't have wished for my happiness or success anyway. It was a small wedding but everyone who truely loves us was there and an oceanside wedding was what we had both always pictured for our big day.

    We got married in my parent's living room. Small wedding, only family and very close friends. My folks were well off, and could have afforded a big splash, but we wanted it that way. Besides we decided to get married during Christmas break from school, and originally planned for the next summer. Impulsive, weren't we. Almost 40 years ago. The only down side to it, was that on January 4, I had to go back to school...............I was a Senior in HS.

    If I had it to do over, I might pick my grandparents yard, in the summer. But it would be going back in time, since they are dead and the house isn't in the family anymore. Just a thought.
