Shoveling Snow

Ray Franz has been "criticized" before and he has been "questioned" before. Bill Bowen went beyond that! He called into question the man's moral character, his integrity.

Then the manner of the criticism itself deserves criticism. (And I agree that the manner was harsh).

However, the responses can basically be composited as "how dare you question Ray Franz! His books helped me and thousands of others leave the Watchtower! He's an old man, so leave him alone!"

These responses are not addressing the manner of the criticism, they are trying to suppress criticism of Mr. Franz entirely. As is, for another example, the use of labels such as "Bowenites", utilised above by Kelsey.

And yes, the above applies equally to Mr. Bowen and every other person on the planet.

Hey - if I have a snow blower (which I have) does this entitle me to a much larger post?

Good point IW - I don't feel these chapters are "closed". I think alot still need closure as I too felt the shiver on the board. I just hope that soon the snow will melt on its own, and the board will find a way to get rid of the cold.

I think it can fairly be said that many of the posts reflected the emotional nature of the situation as well as the surprise direction from which the accusations came. I myself posted from the gut for the first couple days, it is no exaggeration to say that for me this triggered the memory of the way things are in the Watchtower where disagreement with leaders is tantamount to heresy. I went into a mental state of shock realizing that such a thing could happen among us as well. It was a very good lesson in life.

Then the manner of the criticism itself deserves criticism. (And I agree that the manner was harsh).

With this statement we have, as far as I am concerned, reached an accord.

In which happy state of affairs, I think I'm going to let the whole thing rest. I feel the need for some fluff.

I suspect that IW needs to put a brand new thread every day about this because it usually gets buried about 10 pages deep overnight.

    Hi Butalbee,

I've been living in Florida for so long I'm starting to miss snow!

Well, maybe for a few hours anyway.
