And because I'm very much a visual learner I've incorporated this into my graph showing UK publisher figures for the past few years, there does seem still to be a downward trend:

The US K(ingdom)M(anifesto) shows that the US has broken the 1 million mark in August. I wonder how that happened in August? Was it those on vacation in July posting their time in August?

I'm not sure blondie, but as you can see a huge peak is normal for August in the UK too.

We'll see if it happens again when the next KM comes out.

It would be strange for them to be so truthful about the figures ... when they lie and cover up almost everything else.

Even if they are not, I'm sure a lot of people putting the reports in make quite a bit of it up. We never see them round here anymore.

I've thought the same thing. I can't believe that those numbers that the society puts out are 100% accurate. What's to stop them from adding a thousand here and there? If multi-billion dollar corporations can overstate their figures by billions of dollars, then I think a religious organization can overstate the figures, too.

I always thought that the peak in August had to do with the huge "push" for that month to boost the numbers prior to the new service year's beginning. It would make sense, especially if you have pioneers and special pioneers who've been slacking a bit on their monthly averages, ending up having to cram in more hours in one month to fulfill their obligation of hours.

ok, I'll make a prediction. I could be wrong of course, but I rekon that the normal peak in August will be less than half previous years size. Why? Becuase now, all the publishers can book as little as 15 minutes a month, and they get personally hounded for this each month by an elder; there are no 'extra' publishers left to come out of the woodwork in peak months. In other words, the new strategy is producing peak publishers every month already. Let's see.

This happened once before - the next month publishers
dropped by over a hundred thousand - showing how 'staged'
the whole thing is.

Remember, all you have to do is put down an hour or two
on a piece of paper - it doesn't have to be real or truthful.
This is the way the Soviet Union and Enron fell - phoney
numbers that painted a false picture of health.
