You seem to make a lot of assumptions that are not really clearly stated in the Bible....

Funny, the new fad diet of no carbs and all protein is highly biased towards eating lots of meat ..........

Now if you're into preventing animal cruelty I have a couple of points to make.

First never eat veal, they are treated horribly. Same goes for any chicken that isn't range fed.

But beef is another story altogether. I raise a little beef and it's organic. No shots, no hormones or anything else. They even eat organic grain when I'm finishing them off. They have freedom to roam and I put them out to range during the summer months.

But consider this, we would never have huge herds of cows wandering the west. They are here for a purpose and they don't make great pets. Without being fed upon, they would not exist. So we give them a couple of years of existance or none. Well that holds true for males, after we convert them to steers. The females have it pretty good. Steady sex, food and a new baby every year.

Well all of you animal lovers,

We wouldnt have any cows, chickens, or pigs if we didnt like eating the bastards. They would all be extinct.

there's a great book out on Evolution or creation called,"Not By Chance."It answers most questions on the issues. And just another thought...many scientists are turning their backs on darwinism,(evolution). Why?They themselves, scientists, are seeing the fallacy of evolution.

Ona, I have to disagree with you on this one. Except maybe for veal. Out here in the West it is harder to swallow the animal abuse rhetoric, when we see cattle roaming the hills all around us. They don't look that bad off. When my daughter read some literature on the subject and decided, in tears, she was never eating bacon again, I went investigating. There are always two sides to the story. There is definitely rhetoric from the animal rights side. Their "facts" do not bear up to close scrutiny. For instance, antibiotics are not force-pumped in to every side of beef you eat. Antibiotics are expensive. Cattle are expensive. It is in the farmer's best interest to keep his cattle naturally healthy. It is just makes good business sense. Here in the west, the grain farmers get to take the winter off puttering with their machinery and gossiping in town. The cattle producers live like young parents year in and year out. They can never go very far from babysitting their herd, summer or winter.

Some cool links from the "other side" of the argument,

I have no problem being a Christian and eating meat. But then again, I have also decide I do not have to swallow whole literally everything that is written in the Bible. It seems we make ourselves look more ridiculous by trying to pretzel God in to a shape that fits everything that is written. Jesus stood tall and made sense, and cut through hundreds of years of garbage. I would like to be like Him.

LB, that's very interesting about your raising beef. Thanks for the info.

Hi JGnat, thanks for the other side of the issue. It's true, there is always the other side of the story. It's not possible to make an intelligent decision without knowing all the views. Even the Bible says something about that in Proverbs, about the 1st side seems right until you hear the other side.

I dont' have access to all the posts, so sorry to have missed replying to some.

I'm off to have lunch (at work) which is: a power bar for protein, some nuts, and a green salad. But I had salmon for dinner last night.

    Cheers!

    Dear Cowboy LB,

But consider this, we would never have huge herds of cows wandering the west. They are here for a purpose and they don't make great pets. Without being fed upon, they would not exist. So we give them a couple of years of existance or none.

I was following your train of thought pretty clearly up to this point.

Well that holds true for males, after we convert them to steers. The females have it pretty good. Steady sex, food and a new baby every year.

And then I thought: "Is LB talking about humans? Hmmmmmmm. ok."

Thi Chi, I don't understand your statement that I've made a lot of assumptions that are not clearly stated in the Bible. I gave the references in Genesis and Isaiah. It seems clearly stated in the Bible to me.
