    ANDY ROONEY ON MATURE WOMEN

Andy Rooney says, "As I grow in age, I value women who

are approaching or are over 40 most of all. Here are just a few

reasons why: An older woman will never wake you in the middle of

the night to ask," What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think. An older woman knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 40 give a damn what you might think about her.

An older single woman usually has had her fill of "meaningful

relationships" and "commitment." The last thing she needs in her

life is another dopey, clingy, whiny, dependent lover.

Older women are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with

you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it.

Most older women cook well. They care about cleanliness and are

    generous with praise, often undeserved.

An older woman has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women

friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best

friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Older women

    couldn't care less.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins

to an older woman. They always know.

An older woman looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not

true of younger women or drag queens.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, an older woman is far sexier

than her younger counterpart. Her libido's stronger, her fear of pregnancy, gone.

Her experience of lovemaking is honed and reciprocal and she's lived

long enough to know how to please a man in ways her daughter could never dream of. (Young men, you have something to look forward to.)

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off

you are a jerk if you are acting like one.

Yes, we praise older women for a multitude of reasons.

Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of 40+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress. Ladies, I apologize for all of us.

    Amen sista!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw the newest People magazine today. It had on the cover the beautiful Demi Moore,,,,and she is 40!!!!!!!!!!!! even says so on the cover. I thought turning 35 was pretty depressing,,,, but heck, she gives hope that older women can look smashing too. Not sure is she has had surgery or not, but if I could afford it I would have some nips and tucks as needed......lol.

I have seen some women over 40 in real life who I know didnt have surgery and they look great too. Funny the older you get,,,,,, the less 40 seems old now. I saw a woman at the store the other day who I swear must have been close to 80, she walked slow and hair as white as snow, yeah she had lines and her figure had faded , but she was beautiful. Very beautiful.... even time didnt take that from her, and her smile added to her beauty.

Personally, I believe women don't acheive their full beauty until they reach about 40.

Everytime I read that piece from Andy Rooney I laugh. I laugh because my first wife did wake me up in the middle of the nght and asked me if I would save her or the baby, if we were out in a boat in it was sinking. Bear in mind, we didn't have a boat, didn't live anywhere near water and didn't have any children at the time.

Discreet and experienced ones, what a combo. It's those hot flashes that's troubling.

    lol - just tell me

WHERE are the 'fashion role models' for the 40+ crowd?

I searched and searched and I couldn't find a single one. Demi-Moore doesn't count. If you look like 20, you don't qualify.

I mean seriously, where are the famous women who are doing 40+ and doing it well???

The only 40+ fashion role model I could find was Jerry Hall. But who wants to go around in a fur coat and see-thru underwear? (I mean who besides some closetly troubled JW elder somewhere).

Then there's Delta Burke. She looks great and even has her own line of clothing. But she's a pretty large woman. And there must be other kinds of 'looks' besides hers.

    Anyone?

I don't know anything about the fashion model industry, but how about:

    Susan Sarandon

    Goldie Hawn

    Annette Benning

That Red-Haired Actress Who Plays The Mother On "Six Feet Under"

I'll tell you under-forty women a secret: I never felt better in my life, physically at least.

    Thanks for your kind comments....

I can only think of movie stars , celebrities.

Beverly Johnson, supermodel 47 yrs old.

Christie Brinkley, supermodel , 40 something I think.

    Sally Field

    Jessika Tandy

    Gena Rollins

    Sharon Stone

Cher(lol) ok surgery for sure there , butshe looks pretty good

    Madonna

    Naomi Judd

    Michelle Phiefer

    Stockard Channing

This is a kind of wide range idea of the diff sizes, ages of women who carry themselves with beauty and style.Well, Cher and Madonna need to chill a bit....... but otherwise... they look good.

Considering that Andy Rooney just turned 137 years old, his idea that a 40 year old woman is "older" is rather quaint.
