I ask this in all seriousness; Can a child molester get help and quit doing it? Somehow I don't think so. Seems it would be like trying to turn a hetero into a homo, or vice-versa.

I am by no means an authority on weither or not these pedophiles can be reformed. I will state some things I have heard on tv, like the investigative shows, and other court tv type shows, real life cases.
They say that many if not most pedophiles will always have that tendency once they attack their first victim. It is a need they have to meet , even when they know how wrong it is. They did a show about ones that were doing prison time for this and a few of the guys wanted to be castrated because they really didnt want to feel that sexual implusive. They were crying about it, and knew when they got out they would probably do it again. Of course being locked up they could have been saying anything for the camera, after all these are masters of deception.
I don't think someone who does this , can re really reformed. Maybe they stop it for awhile. But what will get them to act on it again? The right circumstances, being alone with a child again, looking at child porn, seems like anything could trigger them to prey on the innocent again.
Personally I think they should be put to sleep like the animals they are. If it happened to one of my kids , I know what I would do. There would be no need for court justice. I would be sitting in jail for murder. I just know what I would do.
Damn this makes me so sick,,,,,,,, I just can't express enough how strongly I feel about child molestors.......to take the trust and innocence of child away, to hurt them in everyway possible is beyond forgiveness.

Yes, pedos are manipulators. Somehow, like freaks of nature, pedophiles feel sexually attracted to children. Is it a neurological sickness? Just a choice? What makes a pedophile attracted to kids? It's just not normal. Like a serial killer, a person who is a sociopath, no regard for other's feelings. No morals. Do we keep them alive to study and learn from them, putting others at risk? Maybe we should institutionalize all convicted child molesters and serial killers for study. Maybe we should just kill them all, eliminating them from the gene pool.

TR, I really don't know. Recently a friend told me about a person she knew who was a pedophile and had been through treatment, he would take steps to not be alone with children. He knew he had a problem, and he knew he had to take responsibility. I gotta think its like alcoholism, its a compulsion or something, some of these people must feel some measure of guilt or remorse, others could care less. I am not trying to defend them or minimize their actions. They may never be cured, but at least they might be trying to do something. Look at the guy who wrote to Dear Abby, looking for help, and she turned him in.

I don't consider them in the same class with alcholics or drug addicts at all. I know many of both of these illnesses and usually their behavior is SELF destruction, not prediator. It is one thing to get in over your head with chemical abuse, but sexual molestation to children is SICK, SICK, and although they may be like an alcoholic or drug addict and refrain from ever hurting a child again,,,,, the mental warpness is totally different IMO than an alcoholic or drug addict.
I wouldn't recommend physical violence, mainly because that would probably land you in jail, and not the molester.
I would recommend telling anyone who lives nearby him that he is a molester.
Actually, you could do like Bill Bowen once suggested, and put FLYERS up in the neighborhood and at the school advertising that he is a MOLESTER.

The problem isn't whether such thoughts are "abnormal" or not, but whether they are "politically correct" and "legal." If a therapist learned that I was considering doing harm to another person the therapist is obligated by law (in the US) to report ME.
I think that personally, I would have a long talk with myself to determine whwther I was willing to fully accept whatever decision the Child Protection Agencies or Police would do with the information if I reported him, even if the agency or police did nothing. Once such a report has been made, I would be known to the "authorities" for the rest of time as someone who had an "issue" with the perp, and I might be suspect if any foul fate befell him.
If I had the financial wherewithal and could find a reliable private investigator, I might have the perp investigated to determine if there might be good reason to suspect that they are still actively seeking vicitms. Such evidence might give greater weight to an accusation if I later went to the CPA or Police. Knowing with some degree of certainty that the perp was still actively hurting others could steel my resolve to do whatever I decided to do, but I would have to remember that the Private Eye also would turn me in if he had reason to believe that I were implicated in a criminal act.
This would be a very weighty decision, and whatever I was to to, I would carry the consequences of it for the rest of my life.

I was watching A& E tonight and the show is Cold Case Files. This episode was about a child molestor that had been murdered in Louisiana,( my home state). They found his body in the bayou, being eating by a pack of hungry alligators. By the time they wrestled the body away from the gators there was not much left. THey proved who he was by his dental records.
Turns out the ones who killed the man , knew he had molested on of the guys children. They hogged tied the man and interogated him. THe molestor admitted to doing it all, molesting the mans children. Long story short, the three men, kill the man, and hide his body in the bayou.Not a hard thing Ihear to get away with down this way.
THe father of the molested kids got 15 yrs in prison for this. THe other two also got some kind of sentence.
I just thought I would tell this story, since it seems to be hitting on the subject we are speaking of. It just makes you wonder what you would do if you were facing this circumstance.
I guess this was a case of Louisiana Justice , you know in bible times, this person would not be in any trouble for taking revenge on for his children. Or would he? Trying to think of the case of Tamar being raped by her half brother, Absolom was ran out of town, but was he supposed to get the death penelty for killling his brother?
