If a former JW decided to put on a suit and tie and go door to door trying to place old WT magazines and books they had laying around, and asking for a small donation, but using the proceeds to buy beer, is that illegal in any way?
Well, it's not like impersonating an officer, I guess. OTOH, you came up with this idea too late for Halloween! Maybe next year?

the funny thing is asking for a donation never caught on with me, i have never did it. even now when they do demonstrations during the announcements they don't have the people ask, we had 2 pioneers do a demo a few weeks ago and they didn't even ask..

Let's just talk about beer.
GUINNESS is the only beer-the rest is alcohol piss.

I always thought some of the people gave us donations just to get them off their front door step. I never asked for donations, always felt a little weird peddling WT stuff anyway. I guess that foreshadowed my leaving.

I will give you a case of beer if you don't bring that trash to my house.

If you get arrested for impersonating a Jehovah's Witness, I will ask my fellow board members to take up a collection to bail you out of jail.
Simon, I know we're not allowed to solicit money here, so I would send e-mails. ;-)

If you decide to do it, let me know how many doors it took to get enough to buy a glass of beer.

Why not just sell them to a collector of WT Lit - like Randy (dogpatch), freeminds, or Duane Magnani of Winess, Inc ?
That would save you the time and effort of going door to door. But the best part - it would be totally legal!!
