A woman started studying, and her daughter had some spiritism type books and to be on the safe side she wanted to burn them, so she and the sister she was studying with (who we knew) went to some land next to a small playground in the middle of the night to burn all the "posessed" items. Anyway, they *did* burn (I was suprised!), but the point is that even though they were having an illegal fire in a residential area on council property, when a police car came past, it didn't even stop - proof Jehovah was protecting his servants...

She just didn't consider for a second that the police have better things to do that run around "persecuting" JWs.

(Hey Hippikon, you didn't think I believed it, right? )

My mom told me of a couple stories that happened to her and her family personally. At this time they weren't witnesses, so I tend to believe her. This wasn't told to scare me, but was told to me cause my mom truely believed in demons.

My mom had just moved into an apt in NYC with her family. There are 5 kids total and her parents.

Well, my mom and her older sis were in their new bedroom they shared and found a play telephone. Remember the ones with the rotary type dial? Well, they were playing with it and my mom said when it was her turn she dialed the phone and someone answered her on the other end. She freaked out and told her mom, my grandma didn't believe them.

Later, I don't know how long after the phone thing----My mom was having a hard time sleeping (she was very young at the time these things were happening), they had a china cabinet with dishes in it in the living room or dining room, can't remember which, anyways, she got up to get some water from the kitchen. She saw and heard the china cabinet fall over breaking all the dishes in it. She ran in horror to my grandparents room and woke up my grandmother to show her what happened. When they went to the room, the cabinet was in tact. So, my mom was sent swiftly to bed. She got up to inspect the cabinet again, and she told me she saw two green glowing eyes floating in the middle of the room. She told me she thought her brother was playing tricks on her since he slept in the living room. She walked up to the eyes and tried to push from underneth them and there was nothing under them, as she turned her brother was alseep on the couch. She ran to her room but didn't tell, since her mom didn't believe her from the other two insidences.

The last thing that happened there was her brother felt like someone was sleeping next to him on the fold-out couch. My uncle told my grandfather someone was laying next to him and they were cold, but he didn't see anyone there.

My grandfather finally told him to sleep in the bed with my grandmother and he would take the couch for the night. To my grandfather's suprise, he felt the SAME THING!!

The next morning, they went to the manager's office or wherever the person is charge of renting was, and asked who had lived in the apt before. The manager told my grandfather a women had be murdered in the apt. She had been choked to death, but she lived alone and there was no sign of forced entry or any entry at all.

My mom's conclusion was the demons killed her. I don't know if I believe that, but I believe what my mom saw, since she still says the same thing to this day, even after becoming a JW later, and being inactive now.

It is funny to me, and kinda strange that I have 3 sets of tarot cards, magic books, spell books, and the satanic bible in my house, and I have seen and heard nothing. I don't read any of them but have briefly looked at them all out of curiosity.

I haven't seen anything personally, but I believe these things really do occur.

Well this isn't a demon story.

But. It is the only things like this thread is dealing with.

In our house shortly befor my divorce from ex., I saw what looked like two transparent shadows move quickly from one room to another. Could have been a shadow on my eye glasses or a floater in the eyeball. Or something else.

Now this one I can not explain away. Right about the time my nephew passed away I awoke one night. I was laying on my back and came wide awake and was calm and not disturbed to see a yellowish orange ball of light? fire? energy? about the size of a tennis ball floating above me and it floated upward and through the ceiling . It did not frighten me and I lay there thinking about my nephew. No explanation for that one.

I had something happen to me once. I was about twelve or thirteen years old, I was living with my mom who wasn't a JW, and I wasn't either at the time. But I'd been asleep in bed when suddenly I woke up to this huge earthquake. The dog was barking, and my bed was shaking and the walls were shaking and widows were rattling... and it scared me out of my mind. In fact, I was unduly terrified by it all, and started to scream bloody murder. I'd never screamed like that before, or since. It was one of those gutteral truly terrified screams. Anyway, I shared a room with my sister, who after hearing me scream and jump down off my bed, started to do the same. It never crossed my mind that the whole thing might not be happening, and I felt the "shaking" for what felt like two or three minutes. It was kind of funny in that my sister couldn't understand why I kept stopping in all the doorways (she'd thought there was an intruder in the room or something) and my whole family looked at me strangely as I fought to open up the front door. I remember my Mom asking, "Why are you trying to get outside! What's going on!" And after I yelled, "We have to get outside before the earthquake starts again! It might be bigger the next time!" Everyone gave me this very dry look.

I was very surprised when they told me there had been to earthquake.

Still, none of us slept well in the nights that followed. It was a long time before I felt really safe going to bed. I don't really think it was demon related, but to this day I can't explain what happened to me that night. Maybe just a vivid hallucination. Thankfully nothing has ever happened like it since.

    Creepy though, hrm?

I have a Buddha statue and the sometimes the head will spin around backwards... no wait a minute... thats just an optical illusion caused by the light in my room.

There was also that sister in my old cong. that heard voices talking to her... no wait a minute... the pretty little pills from her Dr. cause that to go away.

When I was a teenager, a friend of the family took me aside in field service one day to talk to me about this one. Not long before, my folks had gone through my room and thrown out all the music they found unacceptable. Stuff like Metallica and Megadeth. This friend was talking to me about that. He said that my stepdad told him that one night he was awaken to find demons standing around him and he was unable to move and could barely breathe, and they were taunting him. So of course the heavy metal tapes brought them into the house.

It's funny considering that to this day I still listen to the same rockers, have watched The Exorcist, tried a Ouija board twice, seen a fortune teller, smoked pot, bought at yard sales, and I haven't encountered one single demon or have had what I would consider a paranormal experience. I even live in old houses converted to apartments. You'd think at least one would have some resident "demons" right?

Now to be honest, I've had plenty of recurring waking nightmares. I'm lying in bed and hear pounding at the door, a noise or voice in the apartment, a "suspicious" noise right outside, in a previous apartment there was a big window in the bedroom and [in the dream?] there was a figure standing outside the window, and in all of those dreams I'm unable to move even to grab the .45 under my pillow or the shotgun on my headboard.

    Mike.

p.s. But is that demons or is it just my mind? A major fear of mine is losing everything, having it taken away. I live right across the street from the city's main Post Office, with trucks coming and going all hours of the night. I sleep with my windows open for fresh air (there's bars on the windows of course) and when it's quiet in the dead of night all the noise from the PO's loading dock are really loud. I also have neighbors in the same house who keep different hours. Add the insecurity and environment together and my life would truly be hell if I were still a dub.

My brother once saw a skull on one of the shelves of the medicine cabinet (and not a symbol for poison either). He was probably 7 or 8 and the whole family treated it as a visit from demons. Although, thinking about it, the medicine cabinet was surrounded by lights. Staring at a light can cause sort of an after-effect. Everywhere you look, you see the image from the lightbulb. Him being much shorter, if he was looking up at the cabinet, he could have easily been looking at the lights too. And, like clouds, those shapes can sometimes look like other things. So there might be a logical explaination.

Sounds like a movie, but I thought my sister had an experience where she'd hear dishes rattling until she got rid of something that somebody had gotten her from a vacation to some exotic location. For some reason, I'm thinking of a tiki doll, which I know is from a movie.

Knew another lady in our hall. They said she'd love to watch spooky movies until the sheets started hovering over her bed.

Heard one person adjusted a picture that was constantly crooked and some family members found themselves teleported to another county.

A few months ago, my computer started turning itself on. Then I discovered the thing was programmed to "wake up" (turn itself on) with input from the modem. When the modem was plugged in, it would send a signal to the PC when the phone rang, thus turning it on. If it was Linux, I could blame it on a daemon.

I believe the Bible and believe Satan has his ex-angel followers, but can't see the use of little scare-tactics. Wouldn't scaring somebody draw them closer to God? Of course we know JWs aren't the true religion, so maybe that is meant to scare them closer to the JWs.

When I was about 9 yrs old, two "brothers" were over at our house one night to "study" with my father while my mom was out at a tupperware party or somesuch. At some point the talk turned to the inevitable JW discussion of demons (seemed normal to me at the time!). Well, these two "brothers" were sitting on the couch and we were all engrossed in the supernatural...I guess it would be the same feeling as sitting around the proverbial campfire. All the talk became real when all of a sudden something started tapping one of the "brothers" on the shoulder. He yelled and we all jumped...really broke the tension! I'll bet he crapped his britches right then and there! They looked back but couldn't see anything (at the window not his britches!). Makes ya wonder don't it?
The explanation..... We had an evaporative cooler in the window right behind the couch the "brothers" were sitting on. One side of the resulting opening was left open for the cat to come and go as he pleased. The demon was just our cat trying to come in to eat and all the yelling scared him away. I hope those witnesses remember that night!!!!!

At this same time we had a neighbor lady who was quite a bit like Mrs. Kravitz on Bewitched. Seems that she would leave her house in the morning and come back in the evening and her bed would be all messed up even though she made it up before she left. This kept happening so she would make sure the bed was made and even closed the bedroom door to keep their small dog out. Bed was still messed up when she got home and the bedroom door was still closed. Everything else was in order. One day one of her sons was home from school when she left the house and he saw what was happening. As she left the house, closing the front door would cause the bedroom door to open because it wouldn't shut securely. The dog would run in and play and sleep in the bed and mess it up. When the woman came home, the dog heard her at the door and would run to meet her. As she opened the front door, the draft would close the bedroom door again. The dog was obviously innocent so it just HAD to be demons!
