For those in or near the Kansas City area, do you wanna meet up and head out to Trimble, north of Smithville for the viewing? I know a great place along the lake. Contact me by email.

I read about this too. Unfortunately, we are in the rainy, cloudy, gray season here in Washington State. I would have to go up in an airplane to see anything. Some astronomers are going to do that too. But if by some miracle it clears up in the next few days, I will set my alarm and get up to watch.

It won't be seen again for another 30 years. Bummer!

I did see some great meteor showers last August. I got up in the middle of the night and saw so many shooting stars (meteors) and some just sizzled as they arched overhead. It was AWESOME.

I saw those last meteor showers, it was awsome, I got up about 3am, and drove way up north, to the middle of nowhere!

    Mulan,

Awesome is a word that comes to mind. Magical is another. It's sad to think that this will be the last Leonid shower for close to 30 years. I love them so much and they are the only reason that I look forward to this time of the year.

I just got back from viewing the Leonid meteor shower. It was AWESOME! We went about 15 miles outside the city limits. In about an hour my son and I counted 18 shooting stars. 2 of those were fire balls. The best viewing time is supposed to be after 04:00. Since my son has work tomorrow, I may go back out on my own to see more.

So, did anybody else get to view the meteor shower? How many did you count? Did you see any fire balls?

    Awesome, awesome, awesome....

In the space of half an hour I have counted forty-one shooting stars, with one of those being a fireball...

    Going back outside for more...

Counted thirty more since my last post...

Very cold outside, even after I was wrapped up in my comforter...

But it's a beautiful show, well worth freezing my butt off for...
