battman,
Here ya go:

Looks like an LDS missionary page. In the future you can get the links to embeded pages by right-clicking the page and selecting properties. The URL will show in the properties page and you can copy/paste from there.

Wow F-Girl! Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for but even better!
Yes Simon, I agree with your comments precisely! That's why I was interested in the growth stats.
Plus, we've constantly been told that this "tremendous increase" is "evidence of God's favor". Well, if the evidence is increase, it looks like the Pentecostals have it!
Of course, I'm sure some would argue that increase and Bible truths combined is the actual evidence. Or those same people might call into question the accuracy of the chart's source. However the fact that it is published by the LDS and their stats aren't much better, if at all (3 JW congs to1 LDS ward for example), speaks volumes to the candor of the report.
Wow, Fe2O3Girl, that clock is absolutely mesmerizing! I could watch it all day!
It made me laugh to see that chart, but one thing is true, JW are not the most important group when we talk of numbers.
This information I "gleaned" came from the 2002 report thread.
Growth Rate Analysis,
As a businessman I am familiar how stock analysts
track growth rates for fast growing retail companies
and the % increase of "same store sales" is quite
important. You can only throw up so many locations
before you saturate the market and then start pirating
sales form other existing stores.
Therefore calculating the number of newly baptised
ones in relation to number of publishers generates
an interesting number.
1995 for every 100 pubs there were 7.0 baptised
1996 for every 100 pubs there were 7.0 bapt.
1997 for every 100 pubs there were 6.9 bapt.
1998 for every 100 pubs there were 5.8 bapt.
1999 for every 100 pubs there were 5.7 bapt.
2000 for every 100 pubs there were 5.0 bapt.
2001 for every 100 pubs there were 4.4 bapt.
2002 for every 100 pubs there were 4.0 bapt.
This is pretty obvious from the very good graph
that was posted above. The WT "ratio of pub
effectiveness" has nearly droped in half from
1998. Wonder if popularity of internet and
private investigation plus JW rumor mill was a
factor starting in 1998!!! hehe
Therefore as "older ones" die off, younger ones
become inactive the
"pub effectiveness ratio" should continue downward.

Facinating chart. It would be funny if the numbers started going in reverse.
Path
great chart where did you get that?
Battman, those numbers are pretty telling. I think another intereting tell is the # of hours reported vrs # of babtisms. That 'effectiveness' ratio is at a rediculous 4000+ hours per convert now. It takes 4000+ hours of knocking on doors and studys to convert one person. That's (approx) 5.5 - 6 months of solid preaching per person, and by solid I mean 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Or another way, at an average of 8 hours a month, a typical JW can expect to convert ONE person to JW-hood every 41.6 years.
This of course does not factor in the fact that the vast majority of new baptisms are not from the field service work, but from kids, and to a lesser extent, relatives, co-workers, and other 'social circle' type converts. If you assumed that 1/2 of the converts were JW children, and that's probably a very small assumption, then it now takes 83.3 years of door knocking to convert ONE person from outside the JW social circle. In all probability JW children probably make up more like 2/3 or more of baptisms. To see this in action all you have to do is go to any convention. 90% of the people getting dunked are children.
Cool chart, Fe2O3Girl. It's funny how the JW magazine production totally out paces the number of converts they get.
Nice information by battman and NameWithheld also.
You're probably right about 3/4 of the "converts" being none other than uninformed JW kids. Geez, one convert for every 83 years? Kind of hard to engage in a "life saving work" when you yourself are nearly dead when you finally get a study . But of course, whether a JW meets someone at the door or not, it's always a "blessing from Jehovah".
